Indian Institute of Mass Communication Aizawl (also known as IIMC Aizawl), was inaugurated in August 8, 2011, as the East Regional Centre of IIMC to extend its national footmark. It was established to train media journalists, public-relation professionals and state information officers. Students of IIMC Aizawl are placed in diverse international, national and regional news organisations such as Reuters, WION, PTI, The Times of India, The Indian Express, Mathrubhumi and Malayala Manorama.
As of now, IIMC Aizawl only offers two courses, namely Online PG Diploma in English Journalism. At present, the temporary campus is located inside the campus of Aizawl University. The new institute will be situated in approximately 8 acres after the construction of its permanent campus.

IIMC Aizawl offers only one programme, namely PG Diploma in English Journalism. The course is specialised in Development Journalism for non-aligned and other developing countries to mid-career journalists. The duration of the programme is one year. IIMC Aizawl admission 2021 is based on the marks obtained in the IIMC Entrance Exam, conducted by IIMC Delhi. Candidates must have an eligible score in graduation, Class 12 and Class 10, in order to apply for the IIMC Entrance Exam. However, due to covid-19 pandemic in the country, the deemed-to-be university decided to conduct a remote online entrance exam for granting admission to students. The test will be conducted and proctored by the NTA (National Testing Agency).

| College CutOff | IIMC has recently released the fifth IIMC cutoff for PG Diploma courses in the form of merit list for admission to IIMC Aizawl. In 2021, the total number of applicants was 5345, out of which 4599 appeared for the IIMC entrance test. Due to pandemic, this year there would be no interview and group discussion for admission to PG Diploma courses. The merit list is based on scores of students in the IIMC entrance test conducted by the institute. The first merit list of IIMC PG Diploma course was published on September 20, 2021 on its official website.
