The Indian Institute of Mass Communication Jammu (also known as IIMC Jammu), was set-up as the Northern Regional Centre of IIMC at Jammu in 2012 to extend its national footprint. The institute began operating out of Vikas Bhawan at Railhead Complex with a seat intake of 15 students in the first batch. IIMC Jammu offers hostel facilities for its students and a guesthouse (for visiting faculty) which is situated in Gandhi Nagar.
As of now, the institute only offers one course, namely Online PG Diploma in English Journalism. IIMC Jammu will be located in approximately 15 acres of campus in Bantalab area of Jammu after the construction of its permanent campus. Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the campus on February 3, 2019. The permanent campus will have an administrative block, separate hostel for boys and girls and its faculty quarters.

IIMC Jammu admission 2021 is based on the marks obtained in the IIMC Entrance Exam, conducted by IIMC Delhi. Candidates must have an eligible score in graduation, Class 12 and Class 10, in order to apply for the IIMC Entrance Exam. However, due to covid-19 pandemic in the country, the deemed-to-be university decided to conduct a remote online entrance exam for granting admission to students. The test will be conducted and proctored by the NTA (National Testing Agency).
