What's new at Christian Medical College? The upper age limit has been removed for all the candidates for the NEET UG exam. Directorate of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu will release the merit list of CMC Vellore NEET 2021 for admission to 100 MBBS seats offered by the institute. CMC Vellore MBBS 2021 merit list will be released for three rounds including the Mop-up Round.

The Christian Medical College, established in 1900 by missionary Dr Ida S. Scudder, is a private university located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. It is recognised as one of the best medical colleges in India and strives to train students in the fields of health sciences, medical and nursing. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and speciality courses such as diploma, fellowship and distance learning courses. Around 2500 students are enrolled in each academic year. The college has subsidised fees. Students pay around Rs. 1.5 lac for the two-year diploma course and Rs. 28,000 for postdoctoral fellowships.

The college reserves 84 seats out of 100 in the MBBS course for the minority category while 16 students are open to all, 3 seats are reserved for SC/ST and OBC students. One student is selected by the Government of India. Candidates applying to the MBBS course, need to submit their NEET test scores. Students applying to B.Sc, BOT, BPT, BPO and diploma courses will be chosen on the basis of a computer-based test and interview. GATE scores are required for M.Tech and M.S applications. The computer-based test comprises 25 questions from physics, chemistry or mathematics and 15 from general knowledge. Centres for the test are located in 20 cities, namely Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Salem, Bhubaneshwar, Bengaluru, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Vellore, Kottayam, Lucknow, Madurai, Vijayawada, Mumbai, Nagercoil, Puducherry and Penang in Malaysia.

Christian Medical College Placements

Students are given the opportunity to intern at the Christian Medical College in different departments. They are offered a stipend of around INR 18,000 per month. After a year, most students work in major hospitals across the country, depending on their specialisation. A number of companies visit the college for placements as well.

Christian Medical College Scholarships

Christian Medical College strives towards educating all equally and hence, has subsidised college fees, which are as low as Rs. 26,000 a year, including accommodation (MBBS course). This is relatively much less than other colleges offering medical courses. However, if there are students who cannot meet their needs, the college offers to cover full or partial study cost. The scholarships are provided on the basis of economic status and merit. The college believes that education should be shared and not sold.

Admission to MBBS course is based on the valid score in NEET UG followed by counselling adopted by Central and State committees
For BSc, BOT, BPT courses admission will be based on the score in Computer Based Test followed by an interview

CMC Vellore Application Process 2021

The application form is made available online only on the official website of CMC Vellore in the month of February. Application fee includes a basic administrative fee of Rs 800 plus a registration fee as per the course applied for.

The course-wise registration fee is mentioned below:

MBBS, BSc (Nursing) & AHS Degree Courses – Rs 500 per course
Diploma in Nursing and other AHS diplomas / Fellowships – Rs 100 per course
MPH and MSc courses - Rs 500 per course

Application fee can be paid by either through a Challan made by ICICI bank or through online by using credit card/ debit card / net banking.

Q. Is there any relaxation in minimum eligibility for students of reserved class?

A. Yes, the minimum eligibility for SC/ST and other reserved classes is 40%. While for the non-reserved category the cutoff is 50%.

Q. Is the admission process at CMC Vellore based on any entrance test?

A. Admission process in CMC Vellore is entrance-based for both UG and PG programmes. Candidates need to get a valid score in NEET, which a National Level examination for medical admission.

Q. Is there anything else that candidates need to prepare for the final selection?

A duly filled application form which needs to be returned to the Vice-Principal of CMC Vellore along with a letter from the dean of the medical school/university the student attends
Passport-sized photographs of the student, five photocopies of his/her passport and the Medical Council of India fee with a processing fee of Rs 8,000

Q. Is the application fee refundable?

A. Unfortunately, the application fee is not refundable by any means. In case, students decide to withdraw their candidature after submitting the fee, they will have to forego the application fee as well.
