Having been established in 1926,  Government College Dharamshala is the first educational institution for Arts and Science undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the district. It is located at Kangra of Dharamshala District, Himachal Pradesh. The college has been accredited with “A” Grade provided by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Government College Dharamshala offers undergraduate courses in Commerce, Arts and Science. In postgraduate degree, the college offers courses in English, Commerce, Arts and Science. They offer professional courses such as BBA, BCA, MBA, along with a few certificate courses. Government College Dharamshala has a Study Centre named IGNOU offering up to 25 courses.

There are nearly 83 teaching and 43 non-teaching faculties with years of experience providing quality education. The college library is fully computerised and consists of over 5.69 lakh books for students, language books, magazines, and publications. Well-equipped computer lab for practical training, Science-related laboratories and workshops are available. The college consists of various clubs which are providing a platform to the students. The college also provides NCC and NSS training to the students. Hostel facilities are provided and include three hostels, two for girls and another one for boys.

Candidates are required to register on the college’s official website. For admission to each course, students need to have merit in the previously qualifying exams.

Only for professional courses, including MBA, BTech (CSE), BCA and PGDCA, the college conducts an admission test.
