Also known as ISTAR, Institute of Science and Technology for Advanced Studies and Research is located in Anand, Gujarat. It was established in 1999 under Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM), an educational society. The institute is recognised by the UGC and is accredited by NAAC "A" Grade. ISTAR is a constituent college of CVM University and is ranked 1 among Engineering & Technology Institutes in Gujarat by KCG (GSIRF) 2020.

At ISTAR, there are 27 permanent and 34 visiting faculty members who are well experienced in their respective fields. The campus of ISTAR houses projector-equipped classrooms, updated labs (computer lab, mobile & technology lab, industrial chemistry lab, organic chemistry lab, environmental of science & technology lab, etc.) and a well-stocked library (with over 11,331 print books, 39 print periodicals, more than 6,000 online journals, 97,000+ e-books and 1,183 CDs/ DVDs). The institute also provides separate hostel facilities for girls and boys. On the recreational front, it organises several sport tournaments for the students. ISTAR is a centre of quality education that offers 12 programmes at the PG level in Science and Technology including inter-disciplinary. PhD and PG diploma programmes are also offered by the institute.

Admission to each programme offered at ISTAR is based on merit-based. Below-mentioned is the course-wise break of the entrance exams accepted for ISTAR admission process:

PG Courses

• Candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility to apply for MSc programme
• Admission to the MSc programme is based on a candidate's performance in the previous qualifying exams

PG diploma Course

• Admission to PG diploma programme offered by ISTAR is merit-based

At the postgraduate level, ISTAR offers an MSc programme in 12 specialisations with a duration of two years each. MSc has a total intake of 520 across all its specialisations. The institute also offers a one-year PG diploma programme with an intake of 30. The institute also offers a PhD programme. With the help of its Capability Enhancement and Development Cell (CED), ISTAR provides soft skill training, guidance related to competitive exams, career counselling, etc., to the students for their overall development. It also brings job opportunities for the students.
