MCM DAV College for Women has been awarded by Shri Prakash Javdekar and Dr Satyapal Singh for being the cleanest residential college in the country. Over the years, due to sustainable effort, the college has earned the reputation of being a Zero Pollution Zone. India Today also declared it to be one of the top 30 institutes of the country. The Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of India had honoured it with STAR status.                                      

It offers BA (Hons) degree in the following subjects - English, Political Science, Hindi, Sociology, History, Psychology, Economics and Public Administration. The college also has undergraduate programmes in science subjects, commerce subjects, computer application and business administration, one year PG Diploma course in Computer Application, and PhD programme in English. The college offers postgraduate programmes in English, economics, Hindi, psychology, sociology, commerce, chemistry and mathematics.

In addition to this, the college provides an innovative course named BSc- Microbial & Food Technology and add-on courses in Communicative English, video reporting, cosmetology and beauty care, interior designing and decoration, French and Floriculture and Landscaping.

The college decides the eligibility criteria for all the courses. If a candidate fulfils that criteria, he/she can download the application form available on their official website. The college has a placement cell that arranges workshops for preparing students for the entire process. From December of 2017 to May of 2018, about 20 companies visited the campus. About 215 students got selected, shortlisted or got the opportunity of internship in the on-campus placement drive. The college provides scholarships to NCC cadets belonging to categories A, B, and C. Through NCC units, SAHARA India gives the best cadet a total amount of 12,000 rupees. It offers the scholarship to students who have performed well in the academic sphere. Scholarships are provided to the students who are suffering from cancer, aids, students who are physically disabled, and single girl child by the Punjab University. They are also given to students who need financial assistance. The Government of India and the State Government also gives scholarship to the students.
