Founded by the Government of Orissa in 1985, Orissa Computer Application Centre (OCAC) is counted amongst the state's top Information Technology (IT) consultancy organisations. It provides numerous integrated training programmes at different levels such as short-term, long-term and specialised courses. The college's teaching methodology includes group discussions, lectures, case studies, hands-on training and practical demonstrations. Modern training aid like video, PA systems and PC projectors are utilised during training. It maintains collaboration with many well-reputed national R & D institutions such as NIELIT. OCAC offers 26 innovative programmes in a number of fields like the French language, application development, Android technology and Cloud computing.

Candidates seeking admission to one of the training programmes offered by OCAC can apply by submitting a duly filled prescribed application form. The application form can be obtained on the payment of the registration fee along with the prospectus. The college has a well-defined selection process that includes evaluation of career, a written test and a personal interview.

Being a government-run institution, OCAC students have access to a plethora of scholarships offered by the state and central government as well as various private organisations. Medhabruti Scheme of Higher Education (HE) department grants scholarships to deserving and meritorious students. This scheme has benefitted more than 24,500 students. Vyasakabi Fakir Mohan Bhasabruti Scheme of HE department offers scholarships to bright and worthy students undertaking higher education in Odia language. Many other scholarship schemes can be accessed by the students.
