Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies (SIMS) is one of the premier maritime training institutes in Pune, established by Executive Ship Management Pte Ltd, Singapore in 2005. The institute offers BTech in Marine Engineering for a duration of four years with a total intake of 40 students and BSc (Deck Officer Training) for a duration of three years with a total intake of 120 students. It also offers training programmes with specialisation in gas, chemicals, and oil tankers for a duration of one year.

Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies Admission Process 2021

Admissions are done through online mode for all the courses and for interviews one must have to visit the institute. For admissions in any course or programme, students must have a  passport. Course-wise admission process is mentioned below:

• UG courses: Students who have qualified IMU-CET exam and have a valid scorecard are called for an interview round on the basis of marks scored in the exam. After the Interview, there is a physical test of candidates in college itself. Final admissions are done on the basis of the combined score of the interview and scorecard.
• PG courses: Students graduated from recognised university in mechanical engineering are eligible for one-year GME training programme. Admissions are done on the basis of interview which is accompanied by a physical test.

The training and placement cell focuses on each student with an objective to place every them in reputed organizations.

The placements are 100%, after completing the courses successfully students are placed onboard on the ships managed by M/s Executive Shipment Management Pte Ltd., Singapore. Candidates join onboard as Junior Engineers and ETO.

Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies scholarship and awards are listed below:

• Cash Award Scheme: This award is based on an All India level examination conducted by the college. Students from Class 11 and 12 from selected schools are eligible to appear in this test.
• Scholarship Award: The college has its own instituted scholarship award for financially weak students. Candidates are selected on the basis of online tests and interviews for this scholarship.
• Loan Assistance: Students are also assisted in availing  study loans from various banks during admission time. Candidates willing to avail loan may contact the Admission Team for assistance and guidance.
