Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research (TIMSR) was established in 2002 by the Thakur Education Group (TEG). The Institute has been accredited with ISO 9001:2015 certification. It has also been accredited by an 'A+' grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Institute has international partnership with Royal Roads University, Camosun Institute, and Seneca for academic purposes. TIMSR provides guest lectures from eminent personalities of industries like Gati Logistics, Cipla, and Kotak Education Foundation.

The Institute has industry association with ICCCI, CII, AIMA, ICAI, and many more along with strategic partnerships and alliances with leading foreign universities/ Institutions, including Royal Roads University, James Cook University, Middlesex University and many more for Global Immersion Programme, Student Exchange, Faculty Exchange, Learning Resource Exchange, and Joint Research Initiatives. It also has national-level collaborations with ICICI Direct, NISM and TE Mumbai. TIMSR has been conferred with CII 2015 for enhancing industry connect, employability and faculty competency. TIMSR offers full-time and part-time courses at PG level in various specialisations. TIMSR’s part-time master’s degree programme for working executives enables a candidate to continue to work full time while studying further. The programme is approved by the AICTE, DTE, and Government of Maharashtra and affiliated to University of Mumbai. The Student Development Cell focuses on enhancing entrepreneurial skills through TIMSR Centre for Entrepreneurship & Innovation (TCEI) under the guidance of trained faculty members. The Disability Resource Center (DRC) at TIMSR ensures that students receive an equal opportunity to learn, participate in campus life, and grow emotionally and socially and to successfully complete the programme of study that will enable them to be self-supporting while remaining as independent as possible.

TIMSR admissions process is open for all its PG-level courses, through online mode only. This Institute has organised a diversified admission process for different courses offered as explained below:

• Admission to Master's in Management Studies (MMS) is based on the score obtained in MAH CET 2020 score is preferred at the time of admission. Fifteen per cent seats will be filled through in CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ ATMA/ JMET
• There is a relaxation of five per cent in marks for SC/ ST category students

The Institute offers a total six full-time and part-time courses at PG level. The Master's degree programmes are offered part-time for working executives such as Master’s in Marketing Management (MMM), Master’s in Financial Management (MFM), Master’s in Information Management (MIM), and Masters in Human Resource Development Management (MHRDM).
