Jindal School of Journalism and Communication (JSJC) is the sixth college of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). Based in Sonipat, it offers BA (Hons) in Journalism and Media Studies and PG Diploma in Data Journalism that provides exposure in the fields of reporting, writing and producing news and communication. The institute also provides interdisciplinary foundation courses for students to learn concepts related to Social Science and Humanities like literature, history, expressive arts, environmental studies, political science, etc.

JSJC works in collaborations with Universities across Turkey, Israel, Vietnam and Malaysia to facilitate student semester exchange programme. Some international partnership universities working with the college faculty at this institute include University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism along with organising a summer school in Berkeley.

JSJC Admission Process

For admissions in BA (Hons) in Journalism and Media Studies, students have to complete the registration process as an initial step. The process is given below in detail:

  • Visit https://admissions.jgu.edu.in/ and click on ‘Admissions’ tab
  • Download the application form and fill the required information as necessary
  • Pay an application fee of Rs 3000 through online transfer and upload the form with scanned copies of mandatory documents like Class 10 scores, Class 12 scores (if applicable) and passport size photograph

Along with completing the registration, students are required to:

  • Clear Jindal Scholastic Aptitude Test (JSAT)/ ACT/ SAT/ LSAT-India
  • Write and add a Personal Statement (300 words minimum) along with a Supplemental Application to qualify for personal interview round

Final selection is done basis students’ past academic scores, performance in faculty interview, and scores of entrance examinations. This college also accepts LSAT-India/ SAT/ACT scores for admissions in its UG course.

JSJC Courses

JSJC offers three-year course in BA (Hons) Journalism & Media Studies in which students are trained on foundational areas of journalism and communication studies. Students are also required to complete internships in each semester break. In the third semester, they have to select a subject for concentrated study and write a thesis. It also offers a one-year PG Diploma in Data Journalism.

Other signature courses offered by this college include Great Books, Understanding & Reporting Religion and Caste, Radio and Voice, Understanding Politics, Investigative Journalism, Editorial Voice, to name a few. Students can also opt for different concentrations such as radio and voice, multimedia storytelling and media studies television and visual imagination.

Jindal School of Journalism and Communication (JSJC) is one of the nine constituent colleges of OP Jindal Global University, which was founded in 2009.
