School of Computer Science, formerly known as Centre for Information Technology, is a constituent school of UPES. UPES is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The School is accredited with “B” Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is also certified or accredited by several national or international bodies, such as the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) and more. The School has been ranked 91 in the Engineering category by the NIRF 2021.

Currently, it offers BTech, BCA, MTech and PhD programmes in more than 25 specialisations. The BTech specialisations offered by the School are offered in collaboration with several organisations, including IBM, OXebia and Oracle. Apart from the course curriculum, it also conducts industrial visits, guest lectures, workshops, seminars to give industry exposure to the students. Apart from this, UPES also offers a four-week study abroad programme in collaboration with several foreign universities. During this programme, students get a chance to study abroad for four weeks and credits earned by them will be added at the end of the programme.

UPES School of Computer Science equips students with all the requisite skills for a successful career in Computer Science, aligned with industry requirements. Its infrastructure comprises advanced computing centre with round-the-clock wi-fi connectivity and an environment conducive to learning. It facilitates from the main campus of UPES and it has all basic facilities, such as labs, computing centers, food court, smart classrooms, ambulance, hostel accommodation and more. The School not only focuses on academics but it also conducts co-curricular activities to promote the talent of students. One of the major events is Sahayak Virtual Hackathon which is conducted in June every year.

Currently, it offers BTech, BCA, MTech and PhD programmes under various specialisations of Engineering, Computer Science and Management. Admission to all these programmes is conducted online through the official website of UPES. BTech, MTech and PhD admissions are entrance-based, whereas, BCA admissions are done on merit basis. UG Courses

• Admission to BTech is based on UPESEAT/ JEE Main/ SAT/ Board merit
• BCA admissions are done on merit-basis, followed by a Technical Interview
• Candidates, who have completed Class 12 from a recognised board in the relevant stream, can apply for UG programmes
• Final selection of students is based on the HSC scores and their performance in Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GDPI)

PG Course

• Admission to MTech is done on merit-basis
• A candidate must have passed graduation in the relevant stream to apply for MTech programme
• Final selection of students is based on the graduation scores and their performance in GDPI

PhD Course

• Admission to PhD is based on Research Entrance Test (RET), conducted by UPES
• Candidates, who have passed master’s degree from a recognised university, can apply for PhD programme
• Candidates are shortlisted based on the marks obtained in RET scores and their performance in PI

At the UG level, it offers BTech (CSE) in more than 20 specialisations. These specialisations are offered in collaboration with IBM, Xebia and Oracle. It also offers a BCA programme in two different specialisations at UG level. The duration of BTech is four years, whereas, BCA is offered with a course duration of three years. At the PG level, it offers a full-time two-year MTech programme in CSE with a seat intake of 10 students. Admission to MTech programme is merit-based.

The new curriculum framework at UPES, ABLE (Academic Blueprint for Learning Excellence) is holistic in its overall structure and yet focuses on the individual need of the student to discover, experience, explore and challenge. Apart from these courses, it also offers a full-time or part-time PhD programme in CSE with a minimum course duration of three years and a maximum of six years. The School does not have its own scholarship, as scholarships are offered at the central level of UPES. Candidates can get up to 100% tuition fee waiver under these scholarships based on their marks. Details regarding UPES scholarships are given below.

Scholarship for BTech students:

BTech students are awarded a scholarship based on their Class 10 and Class 12 marks. BTech students can also get a scholarship based on their JEE Main scores. Details regarding UPES BTech scholarships are mentioned in the table below:

Apart from this, BTech students are also awarded with the below scholarships:

• Merit-Based Scholarship: Candidates who have secured an aggregate of 80% in Class 10 and Class 12 and 80% marks in PCM for BTech in CBSE/ ICSE / State Examination Board will be awarded by the 50% tuition fee waiver in the first semester. Such scholarships will be limited to 10% of seats in each BTech specialisation.
• Scholarship for Uttarakhand State Board Toppers: Under this scholarship, 25% of tuition fee waiver will be given to boys and 35% to girl students under all specialisations. The scholarship will be given to one student per programme.

Scholarship for MTech students:

MTech students are awarded by a scholarship on the basis of their GATE scores. Candidates who have secured more than 70% in GATE, will get a scholarship of Rs 12,400 per month. To continue the scholarship in subsequent semesters, candidates need to secure a minimum of 8.0 CGPA/ SGPA in each semester.

Apart from this, MTech students are also eligible to avail of a grant up to a sum of Rs 50,000 towards outcome-based research as per rules & regulations framed for the purpose by the University.

Scholarship for BCA students:

BCA students are awarded by a scholarship based on their Class 10 and Class 12 marks. Candidates, who have secured an aggregate of 75% in Class 10 and Class 12, are eligible to get a tuition fee waiver of 50% for the first semester.
