The School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) is an on-campus institute of Apeejay Stya University (ASU) that trains the students in the emerging fields of media, advertising, corporate communication and the entertainment industry. It offers five courses at UG, PG and PhD level in Mass Communication and related streams.

SJMC has numerous collaboration at the international level with reputed colleges and universities, including Georgia College, NSE, ACCA and Normandy Business School. The 'Best RJ Link for EV-AIR’ title received at the UNICEF Radio4child Awards adds a feather to SJMC's hat. The School was appreciated and honoured for its campaign aimed at the digital safety of children.

SJMC admission cycle generally begins in April every year. Candidates willing to apply for admission can visit the official website of ASU to complete the application process. The admission process for all the programmes is provided in a brief below:

BA (Hons) in Journalism and Mass Communication is a four-year programme with two specialisations under it. However, candidates have an option to exit after the third year, in which case, the student gets a BA degree instead of an honours degree. Admission to this programme is based on a candidate's performance in an entrance exam conducted by ASU, followed by a PI round. The total seat intake in this programme is 50 students. The School offers an MA programme in Journalism and Mass Communication for a duration of two years. ASU conducts an entrance exam to shortlist the candidates for admission. SJMC offers an eight-week certificate course known as Radio Enabled Learning Course in Community Radio. There is no bar for minimum eligibility. Anyone with an interest and aptitude for community radio can take this course. The admission is offered directly on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The School offers a PhD programme of three-year duration. It specialises in Journalism and Mass Communication. Candidates are admitted to SJMC PhD course through an entrance exam and a PI round conducted by ASU. Candidates are also required to submit a research proposal and presentation as a part of the selection process. Those qualifying the minimum eligibility criteria and selection process are invited for further enrolment formalities.

SJMC application process is available online as well as offline. The application fee for all the programmes is Rs 1,100. For online application, candidates are required to apply through ASU's official website (university.apeejay.edu). Click on 'Apply Online' and follow the below-mentioned steps to complete the application process:

1. On ASU's application portal, register with candidate's details such as name, email address, mobile number, etc.

2. Acknowledge the verification mail and sign in with the same credentials. Click on 'Apply Now' under 'Online Application Form' on the new page that opens up

3. Select the desired course and enter the candidate's personal details such as name, mobile number, age, nationality, gender, etc.

4. Enter the details of the candidate's corresponding address and click on 'Save & Next'

6. Review the payment details and click on 'Make Payment'. Pay the application fee of Rs 1,116 (including handling charges) via debit card/ credit card/ net banking/ UPI 

For offline application, candidates can download the application form from the website, under the 'Admissions' tab. A duly filled in form should be submitted along with necessary documents and a Demand Draft of Rs 1,100 drawn in favour of “Apeejay Stya Education Foundation”, payable at New Delhi. In the case of an online application, the option to upload the documents comes after payment of application fee. However, when applying offline, candidates are required to hand over the self-attested photocopies of the documents in-person. All the necessary documents are listed below:

• Medical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner
• Character certificate from the head of the institute last attended 
• Three passport-size photographs of the candidate
