Established in 1992, School of Ocean Engineering is a part of VELS Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS). It is approved by the AICTE and accredited by the NAAC with ‘A’ Grade. The School was set up with a motive to disseminate knowledge related to Ocean Engineering among students.

School of Ocean Engineering offers BTech in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering. It also organizes various seminars, workshops, special lectures by industry experts and conferences at national and international level.

School of Ocean Engineering, VISTAS offers four-year full-time BTech in two specialisations. The curriculum of this programme has been designed keeping in mind the required training and research to understand Ocean Engineering field. VISTAS conducts Vels Scholarship Admission Test (V-SAT) for students who have completed Class 12. School of Engineering, VISTAS scholarships are offered based on merit to top 500 students, shortlisted based on V-SAT score. Top 500 students get 100 per cent tuition fee waiver and other participants with a qualifying score get up to 75 per cent tuition fee waiver.
