School of Maritime Studies was established in 1992 and is a part of VELS Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies VISTAS. The School is approved by the AICTE and accredited by the NAAC with ‘A’ Grade. It is located at VELs Thalambur campus and has been Graded ‘A1’ by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India.

VISTAS offers scholarships to meritorious students. To identify the deserving candidates, the University conducts Vels Scholarship Admission Test (V-SAT).
