BPEd Eligibility Criteria 

Depending on the duration of the course as well as the policy of a university/ college, the eligibility criteria for BPEd varies. Given below is a generic BPEd eligibility criteria for three to four years as well as one to two years duration Bachelor of Physical Education course.

BPEd Eligibility Criteria for three to four years duration course

  • Candidates should be Class 12 pass in any stream from a recognised board
  • Candidates should have obtained a minimum percentage in Class 12 (usually 45 per cent - 60 per cent) as stipulated by the university/ college in which they are seeking admission
  • Preference at the time of admissions is given to candidates who have played some sports at the school level or had physical education subject in Class 12
  • Candidates should be of minimum 17 years of age or more

BPEd Eligibility Criteria for one to two years duration course

  • Candidates should clear graduation from a recognised university/ college with a minimum percentage (usually 50 per cent - 60 per cent)
  • Preference for admission is given to candidates who have studied Physical Education during graduation or have played sports at the college level
  • Candidates should be between 19-25 years of age
  • Both men and women are eligible for the course. However, in some institutes, married women are not eligible for the course
BPEd Admissions

BPEd admissions are provided mainly on the basis of candidates’ performance in the entrance exam conducted by different universities and colleges. A BPEd entrance exam can be divided into four main components:

  • Written Test: The test is aimed at evaluating candidates on subjects such as General Aptitude, General Knowledge, English, Science, etc
  • Physical Efficiency Test: This component of the exam tests the physical fitness of a candidate. The test may consist of physical activities like pull-ups, flexed leg sit-ups, shuttle run, 600-yard run, standing broad jump, etc
  • Game/ Sport Playing Ability Test: In this test, a candidate is assessed for anyone sport or a game of his/ her choice. 
  • Personal Interview: The interview round aims at judging the overall personality of a candidate

On the basis of a cumulative score obtained by candidates in all the tests mentioned above, they are shortlisted for BPEd admissions.

Note: The entrance exam components mentioned above may vary depending on the policy of a university/ college in which a candidate is applying.

Direct Admission to BPEd: Although a majority of universities conduct entrance exams, there are some institutions that provide direct admission to candidates. Direct admission is provided to candidates on the basis of marks obtained by them in the qualifying exam (Class 12 or graduation).
