Duration and Eligibility criteria for the course of Diploma National Board

The course of diploma national board is a full-time post-graduation course which extends up to 3 years. The eligibility of the course is qualifying MBBS or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% and above aggregate percentage along with passing the DNB - CET entrance test. The admission to the program is done after calculating the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and the national level entrance test. The course is divided into two categories viz. DNB Specialists and DNB Super Specialists. The final selection happens after a counselling session conducted by the board for candidates who have passed the CET and registered themselves for the counselling session.

The eligibility of the students for the course of DNB is decided as follows:

  • The students who seek admission to the diploma national board should not be more than the age of 50 years.
  • The students who have passed their MBBS degree from a recognized college or university with an aggregate of 50% marks are only eligible for admission in the course of DNB.
  • The candidates seeking admission must have passed their CET-NBE or DNB-CET examinations.
  • The candidates who have completed their MBBS from universities other than that of India i.e. from foreign universities can also seek chances of admission.
  • The students should complete their one-year rotating internship, before applying for admission in DNB.
  • The students have to obtain a medical degree with a permanent registration certificate issued by the MCI in order to sign up for the program of Diploma National Board.
Process of Admission for Diploma National Board

The first and foremost requirement for the students seeking admission in the Diploma national board program is the medical degree issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI).Β  The minimum qualification required in order to seek admission in DNBis an aggregate mark of 50% in MBBS from a recognized institute or university by the MCI. The completion of the compulsory 1 year of rotating internship training by the student seeking admission is a priority. The student should also have taken their DNB-CET or CET-NBE examination before seeking admission for DNB.

The marks of each of the student from their entrance exam are calculated and then they are selected on merit for the DNB program. After the entrance examination, the students also need to register themselves online for the counselling sessions before admission to the DNB program. The seats are granted on merit to the students based on the marks they have obtained in various subjects of the entrance exam. The students also have to submit their permanent registration certificate and the internship completion certificate obtained from the MCI or MSC before admissions. The process of admission to DNB can be completed both through online and offline process.
