Summary:

Assam NEET counselling 2021 process began with the Assam NEET Counselling Merit List on November 23, 2021.  The Assam NEET 2021 counselling registration process will start in the last week of January (tentatively), and candidates will be able to register themselves online. The counselling of Assam NEET will be conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Guwahati, Government of Assam. Assam NEET counselling 2021 will be conducted offline and will have two rounds. However, the registration process for the counselling of Assam NEET 2021 will be completed online. Candidates who wish to participate in the Assam NEET 2021 counselling will have to register on the official website of Assam DME and fill the registration form. The counselling for Assam NEET 2021 will be held at the office of the Director of Medical Education, Assam, Guwahati.

Assam NEET Counselling 2021: The process List of eligible candidates:

While filling the application form for NEET 2021, a candidate must indicate whether they want to participate in the state quota counselling. The DME Guwahati will prepare a list of the candidates eligible to participate in the counselling of Assam NEET 2021. This list will be uploaded on the official website of DME. Only those named in this will be eligible to participate in Assam NEET counselling 2021.

Registration:

Candidates who wish to participate in the counselling of Assam NEET 2021 have to register on the official website of DME. The registration process will be online. A candidate must pay a non-refundable fee of Rs 500 (irrespective of the category) to complete the registration process.

State Merit List:

DME will prepare a merit list of the candidates who have registered for the counselling of Assam NEET 2021. This merit list will be prepared based on the marks/ranks obtained in NEET 2021. The state will also prepare a separate merit list from an overall merit list for each category. Seats reserved for a particular category of candidates will be filled based on the respective merit list.

Schedule for Counselling:

DME will then release a schedule for the Assam NEET counselling 2021. The counselling will be conducted on different dates for the candidates belonging to other categories. The seats that are left vacant after the first round of counselling will be filled in the second round.

Reporting to the Office of DME:

To attend the counselling of Assam NEET 2021, a candidate has to report to the office of the Director of Medical Education, Assam, Six miles, Khanapara, Guwahati-22. They must carry the documents enlisted below, both original and a self-attested copy, to the counselling venue.

Q: Who will conduct the Assam NEET counselling and release the NEET cut off for Assam/

A: The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) is responsible for releasing the Assam cut off and conducting the Assam NEET counselling.

Q: How many seats for MBBS and BDS will be offered via the Assam NEET 2021 counselling?

A: DME will allocate 900 for MBBS and 40 for BDS via the Assam across the medical and dental colleges in Assam State.

Q: What if I cannot secure a seat for the MBBS/BDS course during Assam NEET counselling?

A: The seat availability for MBBS & BDS is subjected to cut-off and ranks. If one cannot secure a seat in MBBS & BDS in Assam, candidates can opt for other courses under the hood of NEET Assam, such as  BAMS, BHMS, BUMS BYMS, BSMS, and Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences. 

Q: How the seats during the Assam NEET counselling will be allotted?

A: The seats will be allotted by two means during the Assam NEET counselling. Both the ways will be dependent on the NEET score/percentile of the candidate. After that, the preference will be given according to the choice of colleges the candidate has selected during the Assam NEET counselling form filling process.

Salient Features of the Assam NEET Counselling

After the result announcement and the release of the cut off list of Medical and Dental colleges across the Assam, DME Guwahati has started the Assam NEET counselling 2021 process. The Assam NEET counselling is scheduled to be held in various rounds such as Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3 or mop-up round (if any seats are left vacant). After completing Assam NEET counselling round wise, various institutes also conduct their counselling at the college level to fill the remaining vacant seats (if any).

To participate in the State NEET counselling, candidates must register themselves first. Registration for Assam NEET counselling will be done online, and the form will be available on the official website of BCECE. The Assam NEET counselling applications will only be considered and accepted after the registration fee payment. After successfully submitting the NEET counselling registration form, the conducting body will release the list of the registered candidates whose applications will be accepted.

The candidates whose names will be on the list then have to report to the document verification centres if needed; otherwise, the documents verification will be done online. After the document verification process, the candidates have to fill their choice of colleges priority-wise. A provisional merit list of shortlisted candidates will be released for the first round of seat allotment.

After this, the subsequent counselling rounds will occur depending upon the cut-off and availability of seats.
