DE-CODE - Design Aptitude Test of Centre for Design Excellence

DE-CODE 2022 exam will be conducted in online mode on May 26-27. The application form for DE-CODE 2022 is currently open and may be filled out by candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria.

Design Aptitude Test (DE-CODE) is a national level entrance exam conducted by Center of Design Excellence (CODE), Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur every year to shortlist the applicants for it's various programs in Fashion & Textile Design, Interior & Product Design, and Graphics & Communication Design. Candidates qualifying the DE-CODE exam also gets admission to VGU's partner university Invertis University, Bareilly.

Given below is the schedule for the entrance exam:

Candidates need to follow the below-mentioned steps to successfully secure admission in design courses offered by CODE.

Step 1: Registration

Candidates can fill the application form for DE-CODE exam online on the official website of the design entrance exam. Click on the Apply Now link and fill the details to register yourself.

Step 2: Fill the Application Form

Fill the details on the online application form and click Save. Since candidates' eligibility will be screened based on the information furnished by them, they are required to exercise sufficient care to correctly furnish the details of their qualification, etc. Candidates need to be ready with the scanned copy/soft copy (jpg, jpeg files) of educational documents, passport size photograph, signature etc. 

Step 3: Pay the Application Fee

Interested candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 2000/- to be able to take up the examination. The candidature of an individual will be confirmed only after the payment of the application fee. The application fee can be paid through the payment portal on the official website through any online mode of payment such as debit/credit card, or internet banking.

Step 4: Download the Admit Card

Candidates can download DE-CODE 2022 admit card from the official website of the design school. Aspirants are informed that all the information/details regarding DE-CODE exam and admit card is sent to them on their registered Email ID.

Step 5: Appear for DE-CODE Exam

DE-CODE is a computer-based online entrance exam. Candidates are provided with their login ID and password for the exam which they need to enter when appearing for the design aptitude test. 

Step 6: Declaration of Result

The results for DE-CODE exam will be declared on the official website. Candidates can check their results using their registered email ID/roll number and their date of birth. 

Aspirants applying for admission in Bachelor of Design (BDes) course meet DE-CODE 2022 eligibility criteria if they have cleared their HSC examination (10+2) or have completed their 10+2 level from any recognised Central/State Board of Secondary Examination or any other recognised examination with minimum 45% aggregate marks.

Apart from this, candidates can also apply for admission if they have studied at any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in Foreign countries which is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities to be equivalent to 10+2 system with minimum 45% aggregate marks.

Another criteria on the basis of which aspirants meet the eligibility criteria of DE-CODE is that they should possess a three or four-year diploma which is recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education with minimum 50% aggregate marks.

Candidates seeking admission to Vivekanand Global University, Center of Design Excellence (CODE) have to follow the process as under:

Step 1: After qualifying DE-CODE Exam appear for Portfolio/Studio Test and Interview

Candidates who qualify the written test are called for portfolio/studio test round. In this round they will be asked questions about their portfolio and performance in studio test.

Step 2: Final Selection

The final selection of the candidates would be based on their cumulative performance in DE-CODE, Portfolio Review, and Personal Interview. Also on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and their chosen specialization.

Step 3: Appear for Counselling

Candidates whose names appear in the final merit list declared by the college need to attend the counselling session conducted at the university. The schedule of the counselling for final allotment of seats will be displayed on the website. Candidates will be given a stipulated time to pay the admission fee. 

Center of Design Excellence (CODE) has specified some broad topics for entrance exam. Get detailed infornation about DE-CODE 2022 syllabus and prepare for the exam accordingly. The Design aptitude test will cover the following topics/subjects: 

• Visualization and Spatial Ability
• Ecological and Public Awareness
• Analytical and Logical Reasoning
• Verbal Communication and Creativity
• Observation and Design Sensitivity

DE-CODE exam will be in online mode. There will be two papers: Paper 1 (Aptitude test) and Paper 2 (Creativity Test). Paper 1 will be of one hour (60 minutes) duration comprising Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Paper 2 will be of two hours (120 minutes) duration comprising Subjective Questions on visual (graphical representation) or written formats. Given below is the DE-CODE Exam 2022 pattern:

Note: One-fourth marks of the total marks alloted to the question will be deducted for indicating incorrect response of each question.

While preparing for DE-CODE, it is important for a candidates to have a plan in mind. This is how candidates should plan their DE-CODE preparation: 

• Have a proper preparation strategy in place
• Know DE-CODE exam pattern thoroughly and go through sample papers and syllabus.
• Pick the best design aptitude test books to prepare.
• The aim should be to score well in design aptitude test
• Focus on your time management skills and improving speed of answering questions based on Quantitative Ability and English Comprehension.
• Solve as many mock tests, sample papers and previous years' question papers as possible to know your strong and weak areas for the exam.

DE-CODE admit card will be available for download on the official website of the institute. The hall ticket is a mandatory document that a registered student must produce at the time of exam. The admit card for DE-CODE exam would be issued for only those candidates who have duly filled and submitted their application form for Center of Design Excellence admissions.

Admit Card: Candidates who will successfully fill and submit their application forms along with the application fee, will be able to download their respective admit cards from the official website. The admit cards are generally released two weeks prior to the entrance exam.

Entrance Exam Result: The entrance exam result will be declared on the official website. Successful candidates will be called for a personal interview (PI), which is likely to be held in the month of April 2022.

Declaration of final result/counselling: Candidates who will clear the second round (PI) will be called in for the counselling session. The declaration of the final result will be announced tentatively in June 2022. Candidates called for counselling will have to carry along the required documents.
