EMAT - Executive Management Aptitude Test

EMAT 2023 registration will commence tentatively from the first week of January 2023. Candidates who are willing to take admission to the MBA Executive programme of IIM Kozhikode must fill the application form online. Authorities will announce the important dates for EMAT exam in January 2023. Earlier, the EMAT exam was conducted in multiple windows.  

Executive Management Aptitude Test (EMAT) is conducted by IIM Kozhikode (IIM-K) and is a gateway for admission to two year Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) at Kochi campus. EPGP is a two-year postgraduate programme for working executives. The exam has been introduced with the objective of filtering the candidates for the EPGP programme offered at IIM-K. This ensures that only quality candidates are selected for the programme, which helps maintain the standard of the institute. Candidates can now apply in online mode.

EMAT 2023 Application Form 

Candidates must fill the EMAT 2023 application form correctly and must submit the same before the deadline. The application form should be filled out online by visiting the official website. Candidates must pay INR 2000 as the application fee which is non-refundable. Candidates will be able to choose any of the following modes of payment: 

• Net Banking 
• Credit Card/ Debit Card 

Candidates must note that any other mode of payment was not accepted. Also, the registration automatically expired if the application form was not completed within 7 days from the date of registration. 

EMAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria  

• The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognised university 
• Candidate belonging to General/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ EWS/Women/SC/ST/PwD categories should have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA in their graduation 
• The candidate must hold three years of managerial/ entrepreneurial/ professional experience after graduation (as on the commencement date of the programme) 
• In case of the absence of recognized bachelor's degree, candidate must have obtained a minimum of 50% in CA/ICWA/CS 
• Candidates having obtained a degree from a foreign university can also apply provided the candidate is producing the equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities or any Government of India approved assessment agency or an Indian University approved by UGC along with the proof of aggregate percentage of marks obtained in the programme completed. 

Please note: These scores should not be older than two years from EMAT exam date.

IIM Kozhikode does not prescribe the syllabus of EMAT 2023. However, candidates can know the important topics that are covered under EMAT syllabus 2023 by downloading the sample papers. The syllabus is divided across three sections viz., Quantitative Aptitude and Numerical Ability, Reasoning and General Intelligence, and General Management.

EMAT 2023 Exam Pattern

Candidates preparing for the exam must check the EMAT 2023 exam pattern. This helps to chalk out the preparation schedule effectively. Candidates must assess their weak and strong areas to begin preparing for EMAT exam. The exam pattern of EMAT 2023 mentions the number sections, number of questions, duration of the exam, marking scheme and so forth.

EMAT 2023 Preparation Tips

Candidates who register successfully for EMAT 2023 need to appear for the test. The entrance exam will be designed and evaluated by IIM-K. Candidates will be tested on topics like Logical Reasoning, Numerical, Data Interpretation and Verbal Skills. Also, candidates need to appear for a Personal Interview. Generally, the exam and PI are conducted on the same day. Candidates will be called for EMAT/Interview on any one of the two days scheduled. Candidates appearing for EMAT 2023 exam must follow certain preparation tips as mentioned below:

1. Candidates must know the exam pattern and syllabus of EMAT exam thoroughly.

2. Aspirants must chalk out a comprehensive plan to begin preparing for an exam

3. Candidates must assess their strengths and weakness with the help of the previous year's question papers

4. Select the right study material for each section of EMAT exam

5. Assess your accuracy and preparation level with the help of mock tests and sample papers.

Candidates must note that the EMAT exam and Personal Interviews are conducted on the same day. Once the registration is done successfully, candidates will get access to the interview call letter and the same can be downloaded from the official website. The venue of the test and interview will be notified on the call letter.

Test-takers can check their result from the official website. Candidates will be notified once the result is declared, and to check the same, candidates need to visit the official website of EMAT and enter their personal login details.

The selection will be based on the marks secured by candidates in the interview. The scores of the interview will be standardised to adjust the differences of the panel. Accordingly, the cutoff for the interview will be decided.

A. No, the EMAT application form is the same for all the candidates. They have to choose the category they belong to and provide the supporting documents at the time of admission. 

A: EMAT result will be available online or at the EMAT office. No hard copy of the EMAT scorecard will be sent to any candidate.
