Forest Research Institute (Deemed) University conducts FRI Entrance Exam in order to shortlist aspirants for master’s programmes offered by the institute. On the basis of a candidate’s score in FRI Entrance Exam, he/she is shortlisted for admission in courses such as – MSc Forestry, MSc Wood Science & Technology, MSc Environment Management and MSc Cellulose & Paper Technology. For the 2020-21 academic session, the FRI Entrance Exam will be conducted in online mode on August 30, 2020, and 1138 students have been found eligible for the entrance exam. Due to the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), to ensure the safety of the students and faculty members, the varsity has decided to conduct the Entrance Exam through a Remote Proctored Entrance Examination. Here is the notification released by FRI University. 

Candidates need to meet FRI Entrance Exam 2020 eligibility criteria as is fixed by the Academic Council of Forest Research Institute.

MSc Forestry

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Forestry course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess Bachelor’s degree in Science with at least one of the subject from Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry.

MSc Wood Science & Technology

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Wood Science & Technology course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess Bachelor’s degree with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or BSc degree in Forestry.

MSc Environment Management

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Environment Management course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess three years Bachelor’s degree in any branch of basic or applied Sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or Agriculture or BE in Environment Science.

MSc Cellulose & Paper Technology

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Cellulose & Paper Technology course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess three years Bachelors' Degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects or if they have completed their BE/BTech (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 50% aggregate).

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates meet Forest Research Institute entrance exam eligibility criteria if they possess at least 50% aggregate marks at the BSc level/MSc if they belong to General category and 45% if they belong to SC/ST category.

Age Limit for In-Service Candidates

The maximum age limit in respect of in-service candidate to MSc Environment Management course shall be 50 years. The age shall be reckoned as on July 31 of the year of admission and no further relaxation will be given in any case.

Step 1: Fill FRI Entrance Exam Application Form

Candidates can obtain FRI application form in-person or by post. Aspirants can get the application form for FRI entrance exam 2020 from the counter of the office of the FRI Deemed to be University/ Union Bank of India, FRI Branch, Dehradun.

Step 2: Get FRI Entrance Exam Admit Card

FRI entrance exam 2020 admit card is sent to candidates on their registered email address. The hall ticket for Forest Research Institute comprises of the candidate’s roll number as well as test centre details like address and code.

Step 3: Appear for FRI Entrance Test

For the 2020-21 academic year, the FRI Entrance Exam will be conducted in online mode, which will be a Remote Proctored Entrance Examination. Students will have to appear for the entrance exam from their homes and give the exams from their laptop or desktop. The varsity will not be held responsible if the candidate is unable to appear or sit for the entrance exam. Generally as done in the past, candidates need to appear for the written exam for Forest Research Institute admissions as per the date, time and test centre address mentioned on their admit card. FRI Entrance Exam is of three hours duration wherein candidates need to attempt multiple-choice questions.

Step 5: Take Part in Counselling

Candidates who have been shortlisted for admission need to appear for counselling as per the schedule and time shared with them. At the time of FRI counselling, candidates need to appear in person along with their documents/certificates and pay the admission fee.

A. 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 7.5% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST).

Q. Are postgraduate Diploma courses offered at FRI University?

A. Yes. Candidates can pursue PG Diploma in various courses offered and Post Master's Diploma.

Q. What is the eligibility criteria for MSc in Environment Management?

A. The candidate should have done their BSc in Environmental Science or any similar field and discipline from a recognised University and should have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate.

Q. What is the application fee for FRI Entrance Exam?

A. The student has to pay a sum of Rs 1,200 which has to send via demand draft to the varsity office.

Q. How much percentage is required to be eligible for any Postgraduate course?

A. The candidate should have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate. 5% relaxation is given to SC/ST candidates.

Q. What is the duration of the FRI Entrance Exam?

A. The FRI Entrance Exam is 3 Hours.

Q. What is the seat intake for MSc Forestry?

A. A total of 38 students are selected for admission to MSc Forestry.

The application forms for the FRI Entrance Exam was released on January 20, 2020. The last date to apply for the FRI Entrance Exam has been extended to May 26, 2020, due to the COVID-19 impact. Candidates can apply online. Due to the global pandemic, the FRI entrance exam which was to be conducted on May 10, 2020, has bee postponed. The FRI Entrance Exam date has been released and the FRI Entrance Exam will be conducted on August 30, 2020, in online mode. The entrance exam will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The date for the declaration of results will be announced soon by the varsity. 

Application Form: The FRI Entrance Exam 2020 application form was released online on January 20, 2020. The application fee is Rs 1,500. The last date to submit the application form by post has been extended to May 26, 2020, due to the COVID-19 impact. The last date to submit the completed application forms is till May 30, 2020 (tentative).

Admit Card: Candidates who successfully fill and submit the application form, can avail their admit card once released online on the official website of the university. The admit card will contain the details of the candidate as mentioned on the application form. The hall ticket is an important document which needs to be carried to the exam centre.

FRI Entrance Exam: The FRI Entrance Exam will be conducted on August 30, 2020, in online mode. Eligible candidates have been selected for the entrance exam and students will have to give the exam from their homes through their laptop or desktop. The entrance exam will be from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. 

FRI Entrance Exam Result: The FRI Entrance Exam 2020 results will be announced in the third week of June 2020 (tentative). The results will be released in a form of a merit list which will contain the names of qualified candidates rank wise.

FRI Entrance Exam Counselling: The counselling schedule will be released shortly after the results for the FRI Entrance Exam have been released online. Students are supposed to bring their documents to the counselling session. The first counselling session will be conducted on June 3 ,2020, and the second counselling session will be conducted on June 6, 2020.
