Summary:

JNU CEEB 2022 or GAT-B/BET 2022 result has been declared on May 26. According to NTA, as many as 8,677 candidates out of 9,578 registered candidates had appeared for the Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) 2022 exam whereas 11,771 candidates out of 13,699 registrations took the Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2022 exam. The exam was held on April 23 in a computer-based mode in 56 cities across India. The answer keys were released by NTA on May 1. Candidates could check and estimate their score by logging in to the official website through their login credentials. The last date to submit objections against the GAT-B/BET 2022 answer keys was May 3, 11.30 pm. What is GAT-B/BET?

GAT-B/BET was earlier known as JNU CEEB. The Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) /Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET)  is a National Level Entrance Examination for admission to the Department of Biotechnology supported Post Graduate Programme in Biotechnology and allied areas in participating Institutions (GAT-B) and for the award of DBT – Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology (BET). The exam is conducted in order to offer admission to aspirants in Biotechnology programmes offered by the JNU as well as other participating colleges. Courses in which candidates can secure admission based on their ranks in the exam are:

  • MTech Biotechnology/allied sciences
  • MSc Biotechnology
  • MSc Agriculture Biotechnology

The GAT-B/BET is an online-based exam (computer-based test) and the duration of the exam is of three hours.

The GAT-B/BET 2022 result has been declared on May 26. Candidates can check their results online from the official website of NTA. Successful candidates will be called for the counselling process. GAT-B/BET 2022 Counseling Process

The counselling process will begin after the declaration of the GAT-B/BET 2022 result, tentatively in June. In the counselling process, candidates will be allotted seats in the desired courses on the basis of their results. Candidates should take all the original documents on the day of the counselling process. The following documents will be during the GAT-B/BET counselling:

  • Two self-attested copies of the matriculation certificate
  • Two self-attested copies of the Class 12 certificate
  • Two self-attested copies of the institution last attended
  • Character certificate from the Head of the institution last attended
  • Two self-attested certificates of the statement of marks obtained in senior school and bachelor's degree program
  • SC/ST/OBC Certificate if applicable
  • A Medical Certificate for PWD Candidates certifying that the disability is not less than 40 per cent

GAT-B/BET 2022 Answer Key

How to Submit Challenges Against GAT-B/BET 2022 Answer Keys

NTA has stated the guidelines for submitting challenges against GAT-B/BET 2022 answer keys, which are given below:

  • Visit the official website of the exam - dbt.nta.ac.in or click on the link above
  • Login with Application Number and Password or Date of Birth
  • Click ‘Challenge(s)regarding Answer Key’
  • The ID next to the question under the column 'correct Option’ stands for the most appropriate answer key to be used by NTA
  • To challenge against an answer option, click on the check box adjacent to the question number
  • Upload supporting documents in the field ‘Choose File’ in PDF/JPG format
  • Click on 'Challenge Question'
  • Click on Edit/Add challenge Questions Click on ‘Save your Claim and Pay Fee Finally’
  • The fee of INR 200 could be paid through Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, Paytm and UPI.

GAT-B/BET 2022 Application Process

Candidates could fill GAT-B/BET 2022 application form online on the official website. All students must fill in every detail carefully to avoid any discrepancy. Students needed to follow the below steps to fill in the GAT-B/BET Application form.

Step-1: Registration: Candidates could fill in the online application form online on the official website by entering their various details such as their names, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, etc. After the successful registration, candidates will get the application/registration number.

Step-2: Filling details in the application form: Candidates had to fill in their personal, educational and communicational details.

Step-3: Fee Payment: Candidates could make payments online after logging in through the official website. Candidates had to make the payment via Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking. General category and OBC candidates have to make a payment of INR 1,200 for the application form. Reserved category candidates got a concession in fee payment and had to pay INR 600 for the Application Form. Those applying for both GAT-B and BET 2022 exams had to pay INR 2,400 (Unreserved categories) and INR 1,200 (Reserved categories) respectively.

GAT-B/BET 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have checked GAT-B/BET 2022 Eligibility Criteria before filling in the application form as those who do not satisfy the criteria will not be considered for admission. Given below are the eligibility criteria candidates can check:

  • Candidates must be citizens of India
  • Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree program from a recognised university in either of the fields i.e. Biological, Physical, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4-years BSc (Physician Assistance Course); or Medicine (MBBS) or BDS
  • Candidates must have scored 60 per cent aggregate in Bachelor's Degree (55 per cent for reserved category candidates). Candidates appearing for the qualifying examinations are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates should be of 28 years of age as on last date of application. There is a relaxation of age limit up to five years for the reserved category candidates, i.e. 33 years and up to three years for women candidates, i.e. 31 years. 

GAT-B/BET 2022 Test Centres

The GAT-B/BET 2022 test centres were located in 59 cities across India. While filling the application form, candidates had to choose up to four exam cities in order of preference. The final allocation of the test centres was done by NTA and the information was notified to candidates on their admit cards. Once the exam centre of GAT-B/BET 2022 is allotted, candidates' requests to change the centre were not entertained. However, NTA had the right to change the GAT-B/BET-2022 exam centre based on external factors. NTA had released the exam city intimation for candidates to check their GAT-B/BET 2022 test centre city on April 13, prior to the release of the admit card.

GAT-B/BET 2022 Syllabus

The examination was conducted in two shifts for a duration of 180 minutes. The question paper had two parts.

PART- A will have 60 compulsory multiple-choice questions of the level of Class 12 in the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

PART-B will have multiple choice questions of bachelor’s level requiring thinking and analysis. There will be questions from basic Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology and allied areas as per the syllabus given below. There will be 100 questions out of which the candidates will have to attempt 60 questions.

GAT-B/BET 2022 Exam Pattern

There were two parts to the question paper.

Part A had 60 compulsory multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer carried one mark each. There was negative marking and for each wrong answer, 0.5 (half) mark will be deducted.

Part B had 100 questions out of which the candidates had to attempt 60 questions. Each correct answer had three marks. There was negative marking and for each wrong answer, one (1) mark will be deducted.

GAT-B/BET 2022 Timeline

Application Form: The GAT-B/BET application forms were released on March 11. Candidates were advised to check the eligibility criteria before filling and submitting the form. The last date to submit the GAT-B/BET application form was April 3, rill 5 pm and the application fee had to be paid by 11.50 pm. The window to correct the application form was active between April 7 to April 8, 11.50 pm.

Admit Card: The GAT-B/BET 2022 admit card was released on April 19. Candidates who submitted their application form successfully were able to download the admit card once released on the official website. Candidates are advised to check all the details on the GAT-B/BET admit card.
