PTU MTech - PTU MTech Admission

Punjab MTech Admission is conducted by I K Gujral Punjab Technical University(IKGPTU) through a centralised counselling process. Earlier known as Punjab Technical University, the university does not conduct any entrance exam for admissions to the MTech programmes offered by the participating universities - Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, Bathinda. Admissions are based on GATE scores and marks obtained in all semesters in BE/BTech. Candidates have to appear in the Punjab MTech admission counselling as per the scheduled dates.

Punjab MTech admissions will be announced by I.K. Gujaral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Candidates can check all the PTU MTech admissions 2021 Important Dates as per their qualifications.

Below is the eligibility criteria for PTU MTech admissions prescribed by the authority:

The minimum qualification for admission to MTech course shall be as follows:

• All those candidates who have passed BE/BTech degree in relevant field with at least 50% (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) marks in aggregate and with valid GATE Score shall be eligible to apply for Postgraduate level MTech course.
• Admission for 85% Seats for residents of Punjab and 15% seats for outsiders shall be made strictly based on valid GATE score and in case seats have not been filled under respective categories, admission shall be considered on the basis of inter se merit in qualifying examination.

PTU MTech - Merit List and Tie Breaking

In the case of M.Tech. Course, the merit list will be prepared as per the following criteria:

• Valid GATE Score 30
• Aggregate percentage marks of all semester of BTech/BE

The first preference will be given to valid GATE followed by Aggregate percentage marks of all semester of B.Tech. / B. E. In case of the tie in the above, the following breakup will be followed:

• In the case of a tie (a) above, the candidate scoring higher marks in aggregate of 10+2 shall rank higher in the order of merit
• In the case of a tie (b) above, the candidate senior in age shall rank higher in the order of merit

MTech (Biotechnology):

• If seats are vacant after counselling, seats for this course would be filled with aspirants who have studied their 10+ 2 with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Bio-Technology, Computer Science or Biology.

Entrance Exam: Admission will be based on JEE (Main) ranks.

Admission to PAU, Ludhiana: For admissions to PAU, aspirants are required to fulfil the eligibility of the institute in addition to the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

Step 1: Application fee payment and registration

Students can pay the application fee online as well as offline. After that, they need to register online for counselling process with details like Name, DOB, Email id, Mobile number etc. After registering, aspirants will receive an OTP which needs to submitted online. They would also receive a confirmation message for the fee payment on their mobile numbers and registered email id.

• Punjab MTech Application Fee: Rs. 2,000
• Online Mode: Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking
• Offline Mode: Cash payment using E-slip at HDFC, IDBI, AXIS and State Bank of Patiala (SBOP) banks

Note: In case of online payment of application fees, note down the transaction ID. In case of offline payment, please get the slip signed by the bank authorities and mention the journal number on the slip along with the payment date.

Step 2: Filling details and choice filling

Aspirants will be required to log in by entering the fee slip number and the password. Aspirants applying through JEE Main or 10+2 need to enter the required details. Once they log in, they need to enter details like - State of Eligibility(Punjab -85% Quota or other states -15% Quota), gender, personal details, academic details, JEE Main score/10+2 score, college and course preference etc.

Step 3: Punjab MTech Application Form Submission

Before submitting the application form, students must check all the filled-in details carefully. Once entered, students will not be able to modify the same. Aspirants should also take a print out of the form.

Admission for 85% seats for Punjab resodents and 15% seats for outside of Punjab shall be made strictly on the basis of valid GATE score and in case seats haven't been filled under respective categories, admission shall be considered on the basis of inter se merit in qualifying examination.
