TNEA 2022 counselling dates are expected to be released in the third week of July 2022 by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu. TNEA 2022 counselling will be conducted for General Academic and Vocational category as per the rank list released by the authority. In 2021, around 440 colleges were included in TNEA and the total available seats were 151870.

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu to offer admissions to candidates in various engineering colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu. TNEA counselling 2022 is a single-window process and admissions in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges are offered through such a process because authorities believe that such an initiative facilitates transparency. TNEA rank list is used to offer admissions to candidates in undergraduate programmes like Bachelors of Engineering (BE) and Bachelors of Technology (BTech) in colleges of Tamil Nadu. Candidates must note that TNEA written exam has been scrapped as the counselling is based on Class 12 marks and therefore seats are allotted in the colleges through the TNEA rank list.

Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) Tamil Nadu will release TNEA 2022 application form on the official website. To apply for TNEA 2022 admissions, candidates have to pass their qualifying examination i.e. 10+2 or intermediate, and meet the eligibility requirements set by the authority. TNEA 2022 eligibility criteria reflect that candidates will be eligible for admissions if they fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility criteria:

• Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed their Class VIII to Class XII standard in Tamil Nadu.
• Children of Central Government Employees, irrespective of their nativity, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years at the time of TNEA application form submission.
• Sons/daughters of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers.
• Children of employees in the Public Sector or Government recognized institutions who at the times of TNEA 2022 application form submission had been working in their organisations for the past five years are also eligible to apply, irrespective of their domicile.
• Other state candidates who have studied from Class VIII to Class XII in Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA 2022.
• Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standards or their equivalent examinations from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA.

Candidates are eligible to apply for TNEA if they have cleared their HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together as mentioned below:

Apart from the above-mentioned eligibility criteria, candidates will also be eligible for admissions if they have cleared any one of the HSC (Vocational Subject) as mentioned below with one of the Engineering related subjects namely Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry with a minimum average percentage put together as mentioned below:
