TIFR GS - Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Graduate School Admissions

TIFR GS 2022 result is being released in the month of February. The result of TIFR GS 2022 is released in the form of an interview shortlist for the different courses and institutes. The interviews will be held from March to May. The entrance exam was conducted on December 12 in 38 cities across India in a paper-pencil based mode. The duration of the exam was three hours and was conducted in two slots, from 9.30 pm to 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. The TIFR GS 2022 paper for Biology was conducted for a duration of two hours, from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. 

TIFR GS is a nationwide entrance exam conducted by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in order to provide admission to candidates in postgraduate Science courses offered by it. Through TIFR GS, candidates are offered admission in 5-year integrated MSc courses and PhD programmes that are offered at the institute.

The TIFR GS 2022 result is being declared in the month of February 2022. The result is declared in the form of an interview shortlist for different courses and institutes. Candidates will have to download the interview order and appear for the interview round on the stipulated schedule. An official interview call or email will be sent to the shortlisted candidates. 

The TIFR GS 2022 cutoff is expected to be released by TIFR after the result or interview shortlist for all courses is declared. Cutoff refers to the minimum marks/score or ranks a candidate needs to secure in order to qualify for the admission process. The cutoff varies from subject to subject and depends on factors such as difficulty level of exam, number of test-takers, number of seats, among others.

The counselling or admission process of TIFR GS 2022 involves two steps. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an interview round or a second written test depending on the subject. Shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews to be held from March to May 2022.

The TIFR GS 2022 answer keys are expected to be released by TIFR within a month on the official website along with the subject-wise question papers. The TIFR GS 2022 answer keys would refer to the correct answer options for each objective type question. Based on the correct answer options, test-takers will be able to calculate their estimated scores in the exam.

The TIFR GS 2022 question paper has been released by the exam authorities on the day of the exam. The question paper of TIFR GS 2022 was in the English language only. Candidates need to complete the below-mentioned steps in order to take part in the TIFR admission process successfully.

Step 1: Fill TIFR GS Application Form

Candidates could fill TIFR GS 2022 application form in online mode. After filling the form, candidates had to pay TIFR GS 2022 application fee online (credit/ debit card) or offline (DD) mode.

Step 2: Download TIFR GS Admit Card

Candidates can download their TIFR GS 2022 admit card/ hall ticket from the official website of the institute. It may be noted that TIFR GS admit card is a mandatory document to be carried to the exam centre.

Step 3: Appear for TIFR GS Exam

Next, candidates need to appear for TIFR GS 2022 exam at the allotted exam centre. 

Step 4: Check TIFR GS Result

Once the written test is conducted, candidates can check their TIFR GS 2022 result on the official website of the institute. The result will contain details such as a candidate’s qualifying status, marks scored, etc.

Step 5: Appear for TIFR GS Interview Round

Candidates clearing the written test will then be called for the final round – interview. Candidates clearing this round will then be eligible to secure admission in their respective courses on the basis of merit.

Additional mode of admissions (Beyond GS)

For Systems Science: All Engineering students who have performed exceptionally well in the GATE exam in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering, and Mathematics can apply for the PhD course without giving TIFR GS exam.

For Biology: All students who have performed exceptionally well in the GATE exam in Ecology and Evolution can apply for the PhD programme in Biology at the National Centre for Biological Sciences without giving TIFR GS exam.

For Physics: Candidates applying for Physics courses can also secure admission based on GATE/ NET/ JEST scores.

TIFR GS 2022 Test Centres

The TIFR GS 2022 test centres were located in 38 cities across India. Candidates had to choose their preferred cities for TIFR GS 2022 test centres while filling the application form. The final allotted TIFR GS 2022 test centre was mentioned on candidates' admit cards.

The TIFR GS 2022 exam was conducted in a paper-pencil based mode of three hours duration. The subjects of the exam were Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer & System Sciences. The total number of questions in each subject is 40. The total marks in each subject of TIFR GS 2022 was 100. The marking scheme and negative marking scheme was differential.

TIFR GS 2022 Preparation

TIFR GS 2022 preparation had to be done as per the subjects opted for. The level of the questions was of undergraduate level. Before starting the preparation of TIFR GS 2022, candidates must have been thorough with the exam pattern and syllabus. They needed to identify their strengths and weaknesses and build the preparation strategy accordingly. For example, aspirants had to focus on building conceptual clarity on the weak areas while practising the questions from their strong areas. After completing the syllabus, candidates should have taken mock tests or solved previous years' question papers and sample papers. Students must note that along with solving test papers, it was also necessary to get it analysed by experts or mentors to understand the areas of improvement.

TIFR GS 2022 Mock Test

TIFR or the exam conducting body does not release TIFR GS mock test but has released previous years' question paper from which candidates can practice. Practising from the sample papers also sufficed as TIFR GS 2022 mock tests. Some of the candidates may have taken mock tests of TIFR GS 2022 from unofficial sources such as coaching institutes, study materials, etc. Solving TIFR GS mock tests is an important aspect of preparation. Hence, candidates must ensure that they take TIFR GS mock tests before appearing for the final exam. 

TIFR GS 2022 Admit Card

The TIFR GS 2022 admit card was released by the exam conducting body on November 25 in online mode. Candidates could download the admit card by visiting the official website and entering the user id and password. Upon logging in, test-takers were able to download the hall ticket or the admit card of TIFR GS 2022 in PDF format. The admit card carried details regarding the exam such as candidates' personal details, exam date and time, exam centre venue and exam day guidelines and instructions.

Application Form: The application forms for TIFR GS were released online from October 7, 2021, onwards and the last date to apply for the national-level entrance exam was November 10. Students had to log in and register online before applying online for TIFR GS.

Admit Card: Candidates who successfully applied for TIFR GS received their admit card (hall ticket) for TIFR GS online. The candidate had to login in order to download their admit card. The TIFR GS admit card is an important document that needs to be carried to the exam centre. Without the admit card, the candidate was be allowed to appear for the entrance exam. 

TIFR GS Exam: The TIFR GS exam was conducted on December 12, 2021, for all courses. Candidates were advised to go through the exam pattern, marking scheme and syllabus before appearing for the entrance exam.

TIFR GS Results: The results for TIFR GS are being declared in the month of February 2022, and the merit lists for different courses and institutes are released which carry the list of shortlisted students for the interview process.
