UPMCAT - Uttar Pradesh Management Common Aptitude Test

UPMCAT has now been scrapped and student are enrolled on the basis of the scores obtained in UPSEE.

Earlier, The Uttar Pradesh Management Common Aptitude Test (UPMCAT) was conducted by the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University - Lucknow, formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) , and was a gateway for admission to two year full time MBA/ Integrated management courses offered by management institutes (government and private), university departments in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The selection of candidates is done on the basis of written test followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview. 

Admission to MBA courses is now granted through UPSEE. Check UPSEE eligibility criteria.

Aspirants appearing for UPMCAT 2018 must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria of the exam. Applications that do not comply by the eligibility criteria will be rejected by the officials.

UPMCAT 2018 eligibility criteria is as follows:

• The exam can be attempted only by candidates belonging to Indian nationality
• The appearing candidate should have passed qualifying examination from an institution / university (The institution / university should be located in U.P)
• Candidates in their final year of examination are also eligible
• Candidates who have passed qualifying examination from institutions located outside U.P. are also eligible for the exam, and can secure a seat at any institute/university inside U.P., Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College - MNREC Allahabad or National Institute of Technology (NIT) Allahabad being an exception

Reservation of seats is as follows:

• Schedule Caste (SC) - 21%
• Schedule Tribe (ST) – 2%
• Other backward category candidates – 27%

Step 1: Fill in the Application form 

Candidates willing to appear for the exam need to fill the application form. Candidates must note that the application form can be filled only in online mode. The exam fee is as follows:

• For Male / Transgender Candidates of General/ OBC Category: Rs 1200
• For SC/ST Category and Female Candidates of All the category: Rs 600

To pay the fee, candidates need to choose any of the following methods:

• Credit Card
• Debit Card
• Net Banking 

Step 2: Appear for UPSEE

Step 3: Selected candidates will be called fr Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds.

Candidates will be given the choice to select exam cities of their preference while filling the application form. Candidates must make sure that this choice is made carefully as the options once selected cannot be edited. 

In case a candidate choses cities of examination where the examination for the paper opted is not being conducted, he/she shall be allotted an examination city from the respective list and it will be mandatory for the candidate to appear for the exam from the same exam city. 

The authorities have the right to cancel certain examination cities if sufficient number of candidates do not opt for that city. UPMCAT 2018 will be conducted in the following exam cities: 

Candidates must ensure that they their respective exam centres at least an hour before the reporting time. Candidates who are new to the city are advised to check the exam venue a day before the exam.
