Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) is a state university and was established in 2010 by the Government of Assam under Assam Science and Technology University Act, 2009. The University is located at Jalukbari, Guwahati and has collaborated with Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia to improve the higher education, mainly in the field of Technology and Research.

The University provides undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level programmes. The course curriculum has been designed as per the guidelines of AICTE and is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). It has 18 affiliated colleges such as Assam Engineering College, Guwahati College of Architecture, Barak Valley Engineering College, Bineswar Brahma Engineering College, Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, among various others.

The admission cycle of ASTU commences in March and ends in May. However, the academic session for all courses starts in August. Some quick facts related to ASTU admission process are listed below:

UG Courses

• Except for BTech programme, admission to all the UG programmes is merit-based
• Admission to BTech programme is based on a valid score in Assam Combined Entrance Examination (CEE)

PG Courses

• Admission to MTech programme is based on the merit list of GATE
• Candidates seeking admission to MBA programme will have to take either CAT/ MAT/ CMAT
• For the rest of PG programmes, admission is based on merit

PhD Course

• Applicants for PhD, who have qualified UGC NET/ JRF/ GATE, will have to go through Personal Interview (PI) for the final selection

ASTU accepts the scores of various entrance exams to offer admission to its UG, PG and PhD programmes. The complete schedule for all the exam is tabulated below:

ASTU offers various programmes at the UG level such as BTech, BSc, BCA, BBA, BDes, BArch and BPharm. Admission to majority of the courses is based on merit whereas for a few remaining courses, it is entrance-based. The complete information regarding admission is given below.

The University offers BTech in six specialisations. ASTU BTech admission is based on a valid score obtianed in Assam CEE and its course duration is four years. The minimum eligibility criteria required to apply for BTech programme is provided in the table below:

Full-time BSc programme of three-year duration is offered by the University. Admission to BSc is purely merit-based. The table below shows the minimum academic criteria required to be eligible for BSc programme:

ASTU offers courses such as BCA, BBA, BDes, BArch and BPharm as a part of undergraduate programmes. The course duration of all these programmes ranges between three and five years depending on the course. Admission to all these programmes is based on merit in the qualifying exams.  

ASTU offers various postgraduate programmes under Engineering, Science, Information Technology, Pharmacy, Architecture and Management fields such as MTech, MSc, MCA, MPharm, MPlan, MArch and MBA. Below-mentioned is the detailed admission process and eligibility criteria for all these PG courses.

ASTU MSc admission is merit-based. The course duration of MSc is two years and the eligibility criteria for the same is mentioned below:

At the PG level, ASTU also offers MCA, MPharm, MPlan, MArch and MBA programmes. Admission to MBA programme is entrance-based whereas for all the remaining programmes, it is completely merit-based. Doctoral level programme is offered by ASTU such as PhD. The minumum duration for the same is three years and the candidates, who have qualified UGC NET/ JRF/ GATE, are eligible to apply.

Selection process: Final selection of the candidates will be based on the candidate's performance in PI

For admission to ASTU, candidates will have to apply through the official website of the University. Applicants need to follow a sequence of steps to apply for their desired course. These steps are mentioned below:

1. Visit the official website of ASTU (www.astu.ac.in)
2. Click on 'CEE Online Application Submission'
3. Click on 'Registration' and register for the application process of CEE
4. Candidates will be provided by an application number and password on their registered email and mobile number
5. Login and start filling the application form by provinding personal and academic details, etc.
6. Upload the required documents and submit the application form by paying the application fee
7. Take a printout of the filled application form for future reference
