Bilaspur University is a State University that came into existence in 2012. It is recognised with UGC and The Bar Council of India. The University has more than 170 affiliated colleges and offers UG, doctoral and diploma courses under its departments such as Commerce & Financial Studies, Food Processing & Technology, Computer Science & Application and Hotel Management & Hospitality.

In collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Bilaspur University offers domain specific diploma programmes. The admission are based on first-come first-serve. Students who have completed their studies from Bilaspur University or any of its affiliated college, can only apply for admission.

At doctoral level, Bilaspur University offers PhD and MPhil programmes. PhD admission is entrance-based whereas for admissiion to MPhil programme, students have to go through an interview conducted by the University.

• Candidates having 50% aggregate in Master’s with atleast seven years of experience and have published minimum of five research papers in reputed journals are eligible for admission to PhD programme
• Aspirants who have a valid score in either of NET/ SLET/ GATE exam will be exempted from taking DET. Also, MPhil degree and Teacher Fellowship Holders & University/ College teachers will get direct admission to PhD programme
