Chanakya National Law University, popularly known as CNLU Patna, is a state-level university that is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It is accredited with an “A” Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The University was ranked 19 among all NLUs by the CLAT cut off in 2019. Currently, the University offers BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), LLM, PhD, DPhil and LLD programmes in several specialisations of Law. At the UG level, the University offers two five-year integrated programmes, namely BA LLB (Hons) and BBA LLB (Hons). The entire duration of both the programmes is divided into ten semesters with each semester having a duration of six months. The seat intake of both the programmes is 60 students each. Admission to both the courses is entrance-based, and candidates are shortlisted based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam. LLM is a one-year full-time programme offered at the PG level, which is divided into two semesters. The programme will cover subjects like Comparative Public Law, Banking Law, Securities Laws, Corporate Laws and Management, among others. LLM admissions are entrance-based. Apart from the UG and PG programmes, the University also offers a PhD programme in three different specialisations of Law. PhD is offered in part-time and full-time modes with a minimum duration of four and three years, respectively. The University also offers DPhil and LLD programmes. The minimum duration of both the programmes is three years each. Candidates applying for UG integrated and LLM programmes need to register online through the official website of CLAT. The application fee of CLAT for General category candidates is Rs 4,000, and the fee for reserved category candidates is Rs 3,500. Below mentioned is the application process of CLAT:

Chanakya National Law University (NLU Patna or CNLU) offers around eight courses but is popularly known for its BA LLB (Hons). The institute has a sanctioned intake of 120 students for BA LLB (Hons). CNLU Patna admission 2021 to BA LLB (Hons) and LLM is done on the basis of merit as assessed through a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam that was conducted on July 23. The results for the same were out on the official website of CLAT (www. consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2021) on July 29. CLAT-qualified candidates must complete a two-step process in order to appear for CLAT Counselling, which is enlisted below:

Registered candidates for CLAT 2021 counselling will be called by the respective NLUs through five provisional merit lists, each released by the Consortium of CLAT. Candidates, who are selected in either of the merit lists will have the following three options, including:

• Apply for upgrade
• Exit from CLAT admission process
