Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) was established by Act No 14 of 2002 vide Extraordinary Gazette Notification of the Govt of Himachal Pradesh in 2002. The University Grants Commission (UGC) accorded its approval under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. The JUIT is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University has been twice accredited by NAAC (2011 and 2017) and bulk of its programs are NBA accredited. The University is spread across 25 Acres. The university offers BTech, MTech, MSc and PhD courses in various specialisations. The highest salary package offered in 2019 placements was Rs 10 LPA.

Admission to Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT Waknaghat), or JUIT Solan, is primarily entrance and merit-based. JUIT Solan offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral-level programmes such as BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD under various disciplines. The admissions are based on national-level entrance tests, like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE, etc. 10% of the total seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to the state of Himachal Pradesh, who have completed their degree in the State.

• Interested candidates can apply by filling either the online application form or by purchasing it in person. The brochure and application form can also be obtained from selected branches of IDBI Bank and PNB Bank
• Application fee is Rs 1200 that can be paid by cash on purchase of brochure in person, or through demand draft or through debit/credit cards and net banking (in case of online application)
• The demand draft should be drawn in favour of Jaypee University of Information Technology, payable at Solan
• BTech degree programs in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology and Civil Engineering
• MTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (Information Security), Biotechnology, Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering, Construction Management and Environmental Engineering
• MSc Programs are offered in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Physics and Statistics
• PhD is offered in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and Materials Science
