Established in 1987 under the Act of Bihar Government, Nalanda Open University (NOU) is a state university located in Bihar. The University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of HRD, Government of India and Distance Education Bureau (DEB), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi since 1997 for imparting education via open and distance mode of learning (ODL). NOU is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), International Council of Open and Distance Education (ICDE) and Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) for improvement and up-gradation of its courses at the international level. NOU has 220 study centres dedicated to the distance education of the students.

NOU operates 10 schools offering over 105 courses at UG, PG, certificate and PhD levels across 10 streams. Besides the full-time courses, NOU Patna also offers short-term courses in collaboration with UNICEF in the subject areas of national importance, namely Disaster Management, Yogic Studies, Child & Women Rights, and Abolition of Child Labour. NOU Admission: Which Course Are You Interested In?

Currently, Nalanda Open University offers over 105 courses through its 10 schools in distance learning mode. BA, BSc, and BCom are popular three-year UG courses. MA, MSc and MCom are offered for two-year each at PG level. PhD is also offered by the University for students interested in pursuing research programme. Short-term certificate courses in subject areas of National Importance, such as Disaster Management, Yogic Studies, etc. are also offered.

Admission to B.Ed and PhD is through the entrance exam. For all the other courses, admission is based on the merit of the candidates in the last qualifying exam. Counselling will be conducted for the final selection of the aspirants. Below-mentioned is the list of NOU top courses:

NOU Scholarships 2022

Nalanda Open University offers a 25% fee concession to women candidates who enroll in any course except PhD programmes. Students are also offered scholarships like Other Backward Classes Post-Graduation Scholarship Scheme, SC and ST Post-Matric Scholarship, etc. by the State Government of Bihar.

NOU Infrastructure

Nalanda Open University is currently operating from its camp office at Biscomaun Bhawan, Patna. The office is well equipped and has a 60,000 sq. ft. of area as its examination center for 1,000 students. This campus also overs a library, computer lab, administrative office and a library.

NOU Results

Nalanda Open University follows an odd and even semester pattern for all its distance learning courses. While the odd semester examinations are conducted in the months of December-January, the even semester exams are conducted in June-July. The results for both exams are published on the University website usually within a few days from the end semester. Candidates can check their UG and PG results for different courses by following the below-given steps:

Step 1: Visit the official website (www.nalandaopenuniversity.com).

Step 2: Navigate to the 'Check UG & PG Courses Regular & Private Result' link section on the homepage.

Step 3: Click on the desired course-wise link and it will be redirected to the result listing page.

Step 4: Choose result method between name-wise and roll number-wise.

• For roll number-wise results, enter roll number and hit the “Get Result” button.
• For name-wise result, enter name and father’s name and hit the “Get Result” button.

Step 5: The NOU results are displayed in PDF format that can be downloaded and saved for future references.

Note: Candidates who wish to apply for NOU revaluation and rechecking of papers can register through the official university website. Students will be notified of the results for the same within a week from the submission of applications.
