NITTE Deemed to be University is located in Mangalore and was established in 2008. It is recognised as a Category ‘A’ Deemed to be University by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. It is accredited by NAAC with ‘A+’ Grade. The University was ranked 74 in NIRF Rankings 2020 and placed 56-60 in QS India University Rankings 2020. It offers UG, PG, PhD, Diploma and certificate courses in streams such as Medicine & Health Sciences, Architecture, Mass Communication, Science and Engineering.

There are about 28 colleges and five research centres that fall under the umbrella of NITTE University. NITTE Faculty/Students have received fellowships namely European Molecular Biology Organization Fellowship, Fulbright Nehru fellowship NAS fellowship and Travel fellowships to International Conferences.

NITTE (Deemed to be University) is also active in social responsibilities. It has a network of rural health centres, NITTE rural psychiatric center, NITTE Gajria Specialty Hospital, Health Care Extension, Student Volunteering and Public Awareness Campaigns. Awards

Nitte (Deemed to be University) was awarded “E-LEAD: E-Learning Excellence for Academic Digitization” by QS I-GAUGE. This was in recognition of the University’s technological capabilities in support of online learning - The certificate was awarded in an online event held on May 14, 2020.

Department of Public Health of KS Hegde Medical Academy was conferred the Global Partner Award by the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. The recognition was givem on the Nitte Winter School launched by the Department of Public Health in which University of Minnesota students participated as part of a collaboration between the two universities.

AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences was awarded the DN Kapoor award by the International College of Dentists (USA) for best community dental service activities.

Following are the qualifying exams required to get admission to various courses at NITTE Deemed to be University:

• NEET UG for MBBS and BDS
• NATA for BArch
• NEET PG for MD and MS
• NEET MDS for MDS
• NEET SS for MCh

Students are admitted to other UG and PG programmes basis their merit in the last qualifying exam, Class 12 and graduation, respectively.

Applicants get admission to diploma programmes basis their marks obtained in the Class 12.

PhD admissions are done basis the marks obtained in written test and interview round conducted by the University
