The National Law Institute University (NLIU) was started in 1998 under NLIU Act No. 41 of 1997 of the Madhya Pradesh Legislature. The law university is recognised by the Bar Council of India and, is a part of Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) in India, Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Asian Law Institutes (AIL) and, International Association of Law Schools (IALS). Besides, NLIU Bhopal also has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with five foreign universities.

NLIU Bhopal was first started with a five-year integrated LLB course – BA LLB (Hons.), and now it offers three more courses in law at postgraduate level. Moreover, NLIU Bhopal will soon start a Post Graduate Diploma in Law with specialisation in Cyber Law and Cyber Security, GST and, Consumer Protection Laws and Practice. The University comprises more than 10 cells/ societies including, Athena - Cultural Committee, Centre for Research and International Law, Centre for Business and Commercial Law, Cares Environment Law Cell, Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell, Alumni Affairs Cell, Legal Aid Clinic, Moot Court Association, Gender Justice Cell, Cell for Studies in IPR, PULER (Rehabilitation) and, Media and Law Cell.
As per the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) reports in the past, the law university has ranked among the top 15 law schools in India every year. The university has collaborations with Centre for Advanced Study and Research on Intellectual Property (CASRIP), Seattle, USA and, Washington University, Seattle for Academic Exchange Program (AEP). NLIU Bhopal provides financial assistance of Rs 30, 000 to the selected students.

The admission process at NLIU Bhopal begins in January every year through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Candidates seeking admissions to NLIU Bhopal and other NLUs (except NLU Delhi) have to fill a common application form of CLAT. | Admission Details | National Law Institute University, also known as NLIU, Bhopal is one of the NLUs established by the Government of India. The University offers UG, PG and doctorate programmes in the field of Law. NLIU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU). In 2019, the University was ranked 4th among all NLUs by CLAT and in the same year, it was also ranked 6th for Law by The Week. The University has a total intake of more than 600 students, out of which, more than 350 students are female.
The University offers BA LLB (Hons) at the UG level whereas, LLM and MS are offered at the PG level. Admission to all these programmes is based on the respective entrance exam. | College CutOff | NLU Bhopal Round 4 and 5 allotment (provisional) lists 2021 are released for UG and PG Law programmes. The National Law Institute University (NLIU Bhopal or NLU Bhopal) offers around five courses but is popularly known for its BA LLB (Hons) and LLM programmes offered in full-time mode. The institute has a sanctioned intake of 134 students for BA LLB (Hons) and 60 students for LLM programme. NLIU Bhopal admission 2021 to BA LLB (Hons) and LLM is done on the basis of merit as assessed through a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). What is CLAT Counselling?Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam that was conducted on July 23 and the results were declared on the official website of CLAT on July 29. CLAT-qualified candidates must complete the following two-step process to appear for CLAT Counselling, which is presented below: Step 1: Update NLU preferences Step 2: Make online payment of Rs 50,000 Registered candidates for CLAT 2021 counselling will be called by the respective NLUs through five provisional merit lists, each released by the Consortium of CLAT.
