NLU Lucknow (RMLNLU) - Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University is approved by the University Grants Council, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU) is a public university in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Established as the Dr.Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute in 2005, the institution got its present-day name after it got the 'university' status in 2006. The university holds recognition from the Bar Council of India (BCI).

RMLNLU offers BA LLB (Hons) integrated programme and LLM degree, approved by the Executive Council on the recommendation of the Academic Council of the university. It also extends a regular PhD programme which is of five years. These courses are offered in full-time mode. Apart from this, the university extends postgraduate diploma courses in Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Rights, and Media Law, Entertainment and Ethics. The university has signed MoUs with prestigious institutions within the country and abroad, namely Instituto Technologico Autonomo De Mexico (ITAM), Tribhuvan University in Nepal, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Lucknow, Birmingham Law School and Northumbria University in the United Kingdom.

With a 42-acre campus featuring state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities, RMLNLU is one of the largest Law universities in the country. It has an air-conditioned administrative block, faculty block, academic block, moot court hall, conference hall with 350 seats, 3500-seat auditorium, computer lab with 60 systems, LCD-equipped lecture theatres with a capacity from 20 to 250 students, and round table rooms. RMLNLU’s library houses 27,755 books, 7,257 back volume of journals, 120 journals, 14 databases, 900 e-books, and more learning facilities that can be accessed 24x7. Additionally, the university has an in-built hospital, plush gym, football field, a multipurpose indoor sports complex with an Olympic-size swimming pool, shopping plaza, banking facilities, on-campus hostels that can accommodate about 1,500 students, and residential facilities for over 150 staff members.

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University extends a range of programmes in law. The integrated BA LLB (Hons) course is of five years, whereas LLM is of one-year duration. PG diploma courses are of two years. The minimum duration of the course is three years and a maximum of six years.

Admission to all the UG, PG and doctoral courses at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University is based on the entrance exam scores of the candidates. The candidates seeking admission to the desired course can apply online by submitting a duly filled application form. For doctoral programme, the candidates must apply offline. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University has a seat intake of 160 along with 18 supernumerary seats for BA LLB (Hons) programme. The seat intake for LLM is 20 and 07 supernumerary seats. Admission at RMLNLU is subject to reservation of seats for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes of Uttar Pradesh, and other categories in accordance with the rules of the U.P. State Government under section 17 of the Act.

Dr. Manohar Lohiya National Law University offers a range Merit-cum-means Scholarships to disabled and reserved category candidates (SC/ ST/ OBC) of Uttar Pradesh. The students belonging to unreserved categories (General) with an annual family income less than Rs 3 lakh are also eligible for the scholarships. The selected student will get a scholarship amount of Rs 50,000 per annum.

Additionally, the university is listed among the institutions of excellence under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for Scheduled Caste Students. Under this scheme, five SC/ ST students are eligible for a scholarship. It includes reimbursement of full tuition fee, monthly living expenses worth Rs 2,220, books and stationery (Rs 3,000 per annum), and computer and other accessories worth Rs 45,000 per annum.

It also offers scholarships for students belonging to the SAP category under various schemes of the National Handicapped Finance Development Corporation (NHFDC).
