What's new at Sikkim University? CUET UG registrations re-opened on May 27 and will remain open till May 31. Also, the UG correction window is open from May 25 to May 31. CUET 2022 exam will be conducted in the first week of July. Meanwhile, Sikkim University registrations for postgraduate admissions are open via CUET PG and the last date to register is June 18. Sikkim University, Gangtok was established in 2006. The University has 10 affiliated colleges in Sikkim. It has six schools namely the School of Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Languages and Literature, Human Sciences and Professional Studies and 32 departments. The institute was established with the aim of providing higher education in various fields such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Communication and Literature. Sikkim University admissions are based on the merit determined through candidates’ marks secured in the last qualifying exam. The eligibility criteria of the various courses offered by the university is mentioned below:

Here are the admission details of courses offered by Sikkim University, Gangtok are:

• CAT (Central Admission Test) shall be held for all UG and PG courses at five test venues namely Gangtok, Siliguri, Guwahati, Namchi (South Sikkim) and Geyzing (West Sikkim). There shall be a Central Admission Test (CAT) for all applicants of UG programs. The total marks for the test shall be 100 marks out of which a candidate has to score 50% in order to qualify in the CAT. The merit list of the selected candidates shall be prepared based on the performance of the candidates in CAT. A department-wise list of selected candidates shall be uploaded on the University website and displayed in departmental notice boards
• For PhD admission, applicants with UGC- JRF, CSIR-JRF, GATE / SLET or MPhil degree holders, wherever applicable, are exempted from written examination

• For admission in BSc Geology, students need to have passed their class 12 exam with a minimum of 45 per cent marks with Science as the stream
• For BPA in Music, students are required to have obtained 40 per cent marks in class 12 in any stream
• Admission in MCA will be based on graduation and class 12 marks. Students have to obtain a minimum of 50 per cent marks in their graduation and class 12 with Mathematics as one of the subjects
• Students who want to pursue an MA in Chinese must have passed BA in Chinese with 50 per cent marks
• For LLM Law aspirants, a minimum of 45 per cent marks in graduation with Law is necessary

Sikkim University, Gangtok offers merit cum means scholarships/ financial assistance to meritorious UG and PG students who fulfil the eligibility rules:

• Who have secured 55% (50% for SC, ST and OBC) in qualifying examination / overall percentage of previous semesters
• Students who have obtained 55% in their last qualifying exam and have a family income of less than INR 60,000 are eligible. For this, students have to submit their proof of income to the university
• The fellowship is worth INR 3,000 per month. Students obtaining free ship will receive complete tuition and lab fee waiver. Those who receive half-ship will receive 50% waiver in tuition and lab fees
