Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is a collegiate Public State University in Belgaum, Karnataka established by the Government of Karnataka in 1998. The University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Not only this, it was accredited with Grade "B++" by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and was ranked 55 for Engineering and 51-75 for MBA/ PGDM by the NIRF in 2020. At present, the University offers over 10 degree and diploma programmes across its seven departments, including Aerospace Engineering, Applied Science, Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, among others. The popular courses of the University include MTech and MBA which are offered in full-time mode. Apart from the departments, it has 219 affiliated, one constituent and 17 autonomous colleges under its jurisdiction.

The University was awarded “2014 International Quality Award” by the BID group of the USA and the “Best Quality Leadership Award” by the European Society for Quality Research. VTU offers multiple opportunities to its students through its MoUs with IBM, International Institute of Industrial Safety Management (IIISM) Bangalore, AutoDesk and Government Tool Room &Training Center (GT&TC), Bangalore.  The University offers several merit and need-based scholarships to its students. Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) offers various degree and diploma courses at UG, PG and doctoral level in the stream of Engineering, Business & Management Studies, IT & Software, Planning & Architecture and more. Apart from degree programmes, it also offers a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety Management (PGDISM) in collaboration with IISM Bangalore. VTU admissions to all the programmes generally begin in March every year. Admissions to all the programmes are conducted online through the official website of the University. Candidates need to meet the respective eligibility criteria to apply for any of the programmes. The application process is the same for all the courses. However, the registration fee for UG courses is Rs 3,000, whereas PG courses have a registration fee of Rs 3,500. VTU has a Centralised Placement Cell (CPC) that handles all the placement-related activities. The cell provides career counselling, competency assessment and placement training. Students need to possess a minimum aggregate of 55% or above across all the semesters of the course in order to become eligible for final placements.
