Institute of Home Economics offers a wide variety of UG, PG, PG diploma, doctoral and short-term courses. While most of the UG courses are three-year duration, PG courses are two-year-long and PG diplomas are one-year courses. The Institute of Home Economics is a constituent college of the University of Delhi. Admission to all courses will be made strictly on merit and priority laid down by the University Admission Committee. Only female candidates can apply for admission to any of the courses offered at the Institute of Home Economics. Admissions are held from June to August every year.
The college will admit all the candidates who meet the announced cut-off criteria. The admission procedure is completely online but registration with the web portal of the college is required. Post-registration, the candidates are to update themselves with regards to the cut-offs of different courses. The candidates eligible under the released cut-off should proceed towards applying for the college.
B.El.Ed is the only course offered by IHE for which students need to appear for Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) and have a qualifying score.
The Placement Cell at the Institute of Home Economics (named EMINENCE) aims to invite organisations for the placements drive and also, help students prepare for the season. The number of students placed for the past couple of years is below average. However, there are some companies and organisations that are regular when it comes to placement.
IHE placements 2020 witnessed over 170 students participating in the drive. The process is ongoing, hence, more numbers have not been released yet.

IHE offers a Special Scholarship Scheme. This Special Scholarship Scheme of the Government of India for the establishment of two supernumerary seats for the students of Jammu and Kashmir are to be implemented for all regular three-year undergraduate courses. At the Institute of Home Economics, this scholarship can be availed during admission based on the provisional Admission Slips issued by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) subject to authentication of the required documents.

The Institute of Home Economics started in the year 1961 by a Registered Co-operative Society conducting a two-year Diploma course in Home Science. It is a constituent college of University of Delhi and is run by Government of Delhi. Institute of Home Economics offers degree and diploma programmes to aspirants at the undergraduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) level. Minimum Eligibility Criteria for UG & PG Courses UG Admission Institute of Home Economics offers courses in Science, Mass Communication and Arts subjects at the UG level. BA (Honors) is offered in Journalism. BSc (Honors) is offered in Home Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, etc. The basic eligibility criteria for all the courses is passing 10 + 2 examination. All admissions are based on the merit in the qualifying examination. Students whose marks fall under the cut-off marks issued by Institute of Home Economics are eligible for admission.
Note: The candidate should have passed theory and practical exams separately, except the candidate who have passed the qualifying examination from Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi. Reservation of Seats for Schedule Caste (SC)/Tribe (ST) Applicants β’Β 22.5% of the total seats are reserved for applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribes (15% for Scheduled Caste and 7Β½% for Scheduled Tribes, interchangeable, if necessary). β’Β Relaxation to the extent of 5% in the minimum marks shall be given to the students belonging to SC and ST to determine their eligibility and merit for admission to the programme concerned. β’Β In case, after giving 5% relaxation, the reserved seats still remain vacant, further relaxation would be given to the extent required in order to fill all the reserved seats. (AC Resolution A88, 14.6.1983) (EC Resolution 157, 24.12.2001). It is obligatory for all Colleges/Departments to fill all the the seats reserved for SC/ST candidates. Eligibility in these cases is a pass percentage. PG Admission Institute of Home Economics comprises of PG level programmes focusing on the area of Health & Nutrition, Design. Master of Arts (MA) and PG Diploma is offered with a duration period of two years. Eligibility for admission is as per norms laid down by the University of Delhi. Admission process for MA course is as per the procedure set by the respective Departments of University of Delhi.
Certificate Courses IHE runs several add-on courses to meet the aspirations of the students and the growing needs of the industry. Students pursuing regular degree courses join these short-term certificate courses. These courses have proved to be highly popular and the response of the students has been very encouraging. The add-on courses include: β’Β Certificate Course in Nutrition for Health, Sports and Fitnessβ’Β Certificate Course in Early Childhood Care and Educationβ’Β Certificate course in Management of Individual and Emotional Well-beingβ’Β Certificate Course in Event Management and AUTOCAD & Interior Designingβ’Β Certificate Course in Radio Jockeyingβ’Β Certificate course in Computer-Aided Designing Institute of Home Economics Admission Process 1.Β Delhi University releases a pre-admission form available for admission which is centralised for almost all the colleges affiliated to Delhi University including Institute of Home Economics.2.Β While applying to any regular course at the Institute of Home Economics, students will be required to fill the same pre-admission form. 3.Β Eligible candidates seeking admission in the college based on extra-curricular activities and sports are exempted from this and have to apply via ECA quota. 4.Β College will display the cut-offs on the dates announced by the University. Institute of Home Economics Application Process 1.Β Students seeking admission to Undergraduate Courses are required to fill the Online Admission Form on the University of Delhi Undergraduate (UG) Admission Portal. Fill all the details correctly.2.Β The registration fee is INR 150 for General/OBC candidates, INR 75 for SC/ST/PwD categories, INR 100 additional for Sports and ECA quota.3.Β The application fee has to be paid online through any of the available payment methods.4.Β After the cut-offs are released, all the eligible students will have to fill in the college admission form available at the admission office of Institute of Home Economics during the time of admission. 5.Β Then, applicants would be required to submit several documents including class 10th examination certificate, mark-sheets of class 10th and 12th, character certificate, provisional certificate of class 12th, ST/SC Certificate, OBC Certificate, transfer Certificate from school along with the migration certificate (in case the candidate is from outside Delhi) and three passport size photographs self-attested by the student.
