Symbiosis Institute of Technology, also known as SIT, Pune is a constituent institute of Symbiosis International Deemed to be University (SIU). It was established in 2008 in Lavale Hills, Pune and is a part of SIU Pune, Lavale Hill campus. SIU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and re-accredited with an “A” grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Currently, the institute offers UG, PG and PhD programmes under various specialisations of Engineering such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and more. The campus of the institute is equipped with all basic facilities such as library, cafeteria, Wi-Fi, labs, sports club, seminar hall, health centre, gym and hostel accommodation for boys and girls. The institute has more than 30 permanent faculty members.
Apart from the regular programmes, SIT Pune also provides global opportunities to the students through Global Immersion Programme, Student Exchange Programme, international internships, summer and winter schools, in collaboration with several foreign universities. Some of the collaborated universities are the University of Malaya, Western University (Canada), University of Leeds, Arizona State University, The University of Queensland, Rudn University, University of Malta and more. Under such programmes, students are allowed to study abroad for one semester and the credits earned by them will be added to their current degree. All the international initiatives of the institute are taken care of by Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE).
SIT also promotes the start-ups or entrepreneurship ideas given by students. For this, SIU has a Symbiosis Centre for Entrepreneurship & Innovation (SCEI) which is a government recognised and funded start-up Technology Business Incubator (TBI). Also, some of the students got placed in top organisations such as Amazon, Vodafone, Bookmyshow, Google, Microsoft and more.
