AIFD CAT - Army Institute of Fashion & Design Creative Aptitude Test

AIFD CAT-  There has been no new update since last one year for this exam. Candidates can stay tuned to know any latest developments and news related to the examination.

Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD) provides admission to candidates in postgraduate design programme offered by it basis their score in the Creative Aptitude Test (CAT) and performance in the interview round.

AIFD CAT exam pattern is such that candidates need to attempt objective-type questions of 100 marks. Questions in the design entrance exam will be based on subjects such as General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, and English language.

“Admission in Army Institute of Fashion & Design is for the children of eligible serving Army personnel, eligible ex-Army personnel, and wards of war widows/widows of the Army”, informs the official website.

• Children of the following categories of Army personnel fulfill the AIFD CAT 2021 eligibility criteria:
• Children of Army personnel who are in service in the Army for at least 10 years.
• Children of ex-Army personnel given regular pensions.
• Adopted children of Army personnel. It may be noted that adoption of the child must have been done at least five years prior to AIFD admissions.
• Step children born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army.
• Children of ex-Army medical officers/ Army Dental Corps officers presently working for Indian Navy or Indian Air Force. However, such ex-Army officers must have served in the Army for at least 10 years. 
• Wards of APS personnel considered as ex-servicemen.
• Wards of APS personnel on deputation. However, such APS personnel must have served in the Army for at least 10 years.
• Wards of regular members of MNS who have been in the service for 10 years.
• Wards of TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.
• Children of ex-Army personnel who have been in service for 5 - 10 years.
• Children of persons of Assam Rifles.

Educational Qualification: Any candidate who possesses a graduate degree with at least 50% marks that is equivalent to Science/ Engineering in Fashion & Apparel Design/ Textiles & Clothing/ Apparel & Fashion Technology/ Fashion Designing/ Costume & Apparel Design/ Costume Design and Fashion/ Textile Technology/ Silk Technology meets AIFD CAT eligibility criteria.

Physical Fitness: Besides fulfilling the above parameters, a candidate must also be certified from MH/ RMO/ Registered Medical Practitioner as physically and mentally fit to pursue design programmes offered at AIFD.

Candidates need to follow the below mentioned steps to take part in the admission cycle of AIFD CAT 2021.

Step 1: Register for AIFD CAT

For AIFD CAT 2021 registrations candidates first need to fill the application form in the offline mode. Candidates can either download the AIFD CAT application form from the official website of the college or can get it by post from the office of AIFD Bangalore. Candidates can also purchase the AIFD application form from the Institute, Army Headquarters (AWES) and all the Command Headquarters (AWES).

AIFD CAT application fee: All candidates can pay AIFD CAT 2021 application fee in the form of a demand draft (DD) issued in favour of Army Institute of Fashion & Design and payable at Bangalore. Application fee given in any other mode (Money Order/Cheque/Postal Order) was not acceptable, informed the official website.

Step 2: Get AIFD CAT Admit Card

AIFD CAT 2021 admit card will be sent to candidates by post on the address indicated by them on the envelope used to submit the application form. Candidates need to paste stamps worth Rs 25 on the same envelope.

Candidates who do not receive their AIFD CAT admit card need to approach the Principal of AIFD Bangalore so that a duplicate AIFD admit card can be issued.

Step 3: Appear for AIFD CAT

Candidates can appear for AIFD CAT in July. Candidates need to reach the AIFD CAT exam centre along with their admit card.

Step 4: Appear for AIFD CAT Personal Interview

After giving the written design entrance exam, candidates need to appear for the interview round at AIFD Bangalore on the same day.

It may be noted that AIFD admissions 2021 will be done basis a candidate’s score in the written design exam and performance in the interview round.

Step 5: Check AIFD CAT Results

After both rounds are conducted, AIFD CAT 2021 results will be declared on the college notice board as well as the official website of the college.

Once AIFD results are declared, all shortlisted candidates need to make a payment of Rs 10,000 (registration fee) and Rs 5,000 (hostel fee). The payment needs to be made through DD drawn in favour of Army Institute of Fashion & Design, payable at Bangalore.

The exam centres for AIFD CAT 2021 have not been declared yet. However, in 2019 the Design entrance exam was conducted at the main campus of Army Institute of Fashion & Design in Bangalore.
