Summary: About CENTAC MBBS 2020

CENTAC 2020 which stands for Centralised Admission Committee is the managing body to facilitate the admissions for MBBS, BDS, BAMS programmes in Puducherry. All the seats available in various medical, dental and Ayurveda colleges will be filled on the basis of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), as guidelines laid by the Indian Medical Council (IMC).  To secure a seat in MBBS, BDS and BAMS colleges in Puducherry, candidates have to fill an application form released by CENTAC and an merit list will then be released based on the performance of the candidates in NEET. 

CENTAC released the final list of candidates admitted in Round one for admissions in MBBS, BDS and BAMS courses. CENTAC had started inviting applications for all the NEET related courses on October 17, 2020, and asked the candidates to submit the same by October 27, 2020, but in view of consecutive public holidays in the colleges and government offices, the last date for submission of CENTAC application forms for NEET related courses was November 2, 2020, until 5: 00 pm. According to the official notification released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the Stray Vacancy Round counselling for filling up the vacant MBBS seats, after the Mop-up round of counselling, for the academic year 2020-21 for Puducherry and Karaikal campuses scheduled on December 29 was postponed. However, now CENTAC has informed about the conduction of mop-up counselling session for BDS and BAMS admissions. The counselling body also stated that the mop-up round will be conducted in both web conferencing and offline mode. CENTAC NEET 2020 Counselling Mop-up Round Revised Schedule

CENTAC is conducting the mop-up round for BDS and BAMS admissions through web conferencing as well as via offline mode. According to the official notice, candidates are required to choose their mode of counselling before 10 am on January 19, 2021. Candidates selecting the offline mode are required to report to the regional centre in person and register their names by 9 am on January 20, 2021.

Stray Vacancy Round Counselling Postponed 

Earlier, MCC postponed the Stray Vacancy Round counselling which was early scheduled for December 29 for filling up the vacant MBBS seats after the mop-up round of counselling, for the academic year 2020-21 for Puducherry and Karaikal campuses. Candidates can check the official notice below:

CENTAC MBBS 2020 Eligibility

 CENTAC has set different eligibility criteria for different quota seats such as General, Minority and Management quota. Below is the eligibility criteria for general quota seats.

  • Candidates should have passed the Class 12 examination (Higher Secondary) conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent exam.
  • Candidates should have secure 50 percent (40 percent for OBC/BCM/MBC/EBC/BT/SC/ST candidates) in aggregate, in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Biotechnology, Botany, and Zoology. They must have passed each subject individually also.
  • Candidates should have English as one of the subjects
  • The applicant must be an Indian national
  • Non-Resident Indian (NRI) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) are also eligible
  • Candidates should be at least 17 years old at the time of admission
  • Candidates must have qualified NEET-UG

 CENTAC 2020 Eligibility Criteria for Minority Quota

  1. They must be residents of the Union Territory (UT) of Puducherry and belonging to respective minorities
  • For PIMS: Candidates must be from a Christian religious minority category
  • For SVMC&RI: Candidates who belong to Telugu linguistic minority are eligible.
  1. Candidates have to produce valid documentary proof such as Transfer Certificate or similar documents to prove their eligibility under their minority quota status

CENTAC MBBS 2020 Eligibility for Management Quota

CENTAC also have seats reserved under the management quota. NEET 2020 qualified candidates can apply for management seats. Candidates applying for management quota seats don’t have to submit any domicile or residence proof. Hence, candidates from other states are also eligible to apply for the management quota seats for CENTAC MBBS 2020.

CENTAC MBBS 2020 Application Process 2020

CENTAC MBBS 2020 admission process is mainly involved around the application, merit list and counselling. The acceptance of application and other processes will be conducted on the basis of candidate’s performance in the NEET 2020 exam. Below are the steps involved in the CENTAC 2020 application process:

Step 1: Interested candidates have to apply online by the official website of CENTAC, Puducherry. After visiting the official website, in the important notice box click on ‘Group II’, which is meant for professional courses like MBBS, BDS and BAMS.

Step 2: In the new tab, a dashboard page for MBBS admissions will open, click on ‘Sign Up’. Then, candidates have to enter their ‘Registered Mobile Number, E-Mail and other details to create a login account on the official website. The candidate will then receive an OTP sent to their registered mobile number. Submit the OTP to complete pre-registration. A login account will be created thereafter.

Step 3:  Candidates have to login to their accounts by entering their credential provided during the time of pre-registration. CENTAC MBBS application form 2020 will appear on the screen after logging in. Candidates are advised to fill their personal details carefully. While filling the application form candidates must note that filling of college preferences is must.  

Step 4: After furnishing all the personal and academic details, candidates have to upload the scanned image of their passport size photograph in JPEG format. The size of the scanned image should not exceed than 50kb or should not be less than 20kb. Also, candidates have to upload self-attested copies of the following documents: -

  • Class 10 and Class 12 Certificates/ Mark Sheets
  • Nationality/ Domicile/ Residence Certificate
  • Regional Reservation Certificate (if applicable)
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)

Step 5: After completing the above mentioned steps, candidates have to submit the counselling fee. The counselling fee for general category is Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 for reserved categories. No application will be accepted without the submission of CENTAC MBBS 2020 counselling fee.

Step 6: After submitting the counselling fee, candidates should take at least two printout of the filled application form after following the above-mentioned steps.

CENTAC MBBS Merit List

CENTAC will prepare a merit list based on NEET UG 2020 score and merit of the candidate along with the percentage scored in Class 12. Initially, CENTAC uploads a draft merit list and allows the candidates to raise objection on the same by allowing a one day objection window. After addressing the objections, a final merit list is released. The final merit list will have the names of the shortlisted candidates for admission to NEET related courses.  

CENTAC MBBS Counselling Process 2020:

Initially, a mock seat allotment list will be releases on the official website of CENTAC to help the candidates to be familiar with the actual allotment process. Once the final seat allotment is rleased, the candidates have to follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 2: Puducherry MBBS counselling process is conducted online. CENTAC will release the seat allotment results on its official website after the releasing the final merit list. The seat allotment status will be made available and candidates can check the same on the official website.

Step 2: Candidates have to login with their credentials to check their seat allotment status. The candidates will be able to choose from the four options. Those options are mentioned below:

  • Option 1: The candidates can accept the seat and reject further allotments.
  • Option 2: The candidates can accept the allotment and request for up-gradation of the seat. If the seat of the candidate is upgraded in the further rounds of allotment, the seat that was allocated to the candidate earlier will be allocated to another candidate.
  • Option 3: The candidates can reject the allotment and choose to take part in the further rounds of seat allotment.
  • Option 4: The candidates can reject the seat and opt-out from the next rounds of seat allotment.

Step 3: After the completion of above steps, the candidates will be allowed to download the provisional allotment letter if they accept the seats allotted to them.

Step 4:  Candidates have to report to the allotted college within the allotted time. The admission will only be confirmed after the submission and verification of the original documents at the allotted college and submission the course fee.
