CUSAT DAT stands for Cochin University of Science and Technology Department Admission Test. It is conducted by Cochin University of Science & Technology for admissions to various certificate and diploma courses, MA Translation (German & Russian), PhD, MPhil, and MTech courses. The exam is usually conducted for admissions into MTech programmes, in case of vacant seats after conducting admissions through GATE scores.

The MTech branches for which GATE scores will be accepted include civil, chemical, electrical & electronics, mechanical, atmospheric sciences, ocean technology, computer science and IT, software and electronics. Admissions to two of the MTech disciplines which include Marine and Marine Bio-Technology will be strictly accepted on the basis of CUSAT DAT scores. GATE scores are not valid for these branches.

The application form was released online on February 08. Candidates seeking admission would have filled CUSAT DAT application form 2022 by visiting the official website. • As per educational qualification: Candidates seeking admission to MTech programme should possess a bachelor’s degree in science and technology with a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying examination conducted by a recognised university/institute. 
• As per reservation quota: A candidate belonging to SC/ST community is eligible for concession upto 10% marks for admission provided that he/she has a pass in the qualifying examination. Candidates who possess national/state research fellowship with valid scores, with committed financial assistance at the time of seeking admission, in any of the national/state level eligibility tests conducted by the agencies or by industries so recognized by the University for the purpose, are exempted from appearing the CUSAT DAT 2022.

GATE score will not be considered for the following MTech programmes

• MTech Marine Engineering: The admission will be based on the Rank list prepared by giving due weightage to qualifying degree marks (50%) , Admission Test conducted by the Department (40%), and number of years’ experience after obtaining the degree (weightage is at the rate of 1% per year of experience subject to a maximum of 10%). In the case of Marine Engineers possessing MEO Class II Certificate of competency 5% weightage and for those possessing MEO Class I Certificate 10% weightage.
• MTech in Marine Bio-Technology: Selection of candidates is done by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on behalf of Department of Bio-Technology, Government of India through a National Test along with all such examinations conducted by the JNU.  For details visit JNU website.
