Summary: What is NSI Admission Test?

The National Sugar Institute (NSI) conducts an entrance exam known as NSI Admission Test for admission to various post-graduate diploma and certificate courses in Food Science and Technology. The entrance exam is held in a pen-paper based test mode for a duration of three hours. The question papers of the NSI Admission Test are different for all courses. The application process for the NSI Admission Test is underway. It started on April 19 and the last dates of applying in online and offline modes are June 25 and July 2 respectively. The original deadlines were June 4 and June 11 respectively. The NSI Admission Test 2021 has been postponed to July 18 from June 27.

NSI Admission Test 2021 Eligibility Criteria 

The candidates seeking admission to above mention courses need to ensure that they fulfil the following criteria of admission: 

  • PGANSI-ST: Candidates who have passed Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Chemistry. Physics & Mathematics or an equivalent bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering are eligible for this course.
  • PGANSI-SE: Candidates who have passed a bachelor’s degree or A.M.I.E (from The Institutions of Engineers, India) in Mechanical / Production / Electrical./ Electrical & Electronics/ Chemical Engineering are eligible for this course.
  • DIFAT: Candidates who have completed a BSc degree in Chemistry / Applied Chemistry./ Industrial Chemistry/Bio-Chemistry as one of the subject or BTech in Bio-Technology/ Chemical Engg. or Bio-Chemical Engg are eligible for admission in this course.
  • DPSPMM: Candidates who have completed a BSc degree in any specialisation or Agriculture are eligible for this course. 
  • DIIPA: Candidates who have completed a bachelor degree or A.M.I.E in Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics/Instrumentation/ Electrical & Electronics/ Applied Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics & Communication/ Instrumentation & Control are eligible for this course. 
  • DQCES: Candidates who have completed a BSc degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Zoology, Botany, Chemistry / Environmental Science/ Bio-Technology or a BTech degree in Biotech are eligible for admission to this course. 
  • SBCC: Candidates who have completed Class 10th or 12th in Science or Agriculture stream. They should have work experience of at least 3 months with pan-operationin a vacuum pan sugar factory along with the nomination. 
  • SEBC: Candidates should have completed a Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Electrical./ Electrical & Electronics from a recognized Technical School/Polytechnic. 
  • SCQC: Candidates who have passed class 12th in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.  
Age Limit Criteria:

The candidates applying for the above-mentioned courses should not be more than 35 years as on July 1, 2021. They should be born on or after July 1, 1984, to be considered.

NSI Admission Test 2021 Process

The admission process through NSI Admission Test 2021 is as under: 

Step 1: Application - Candidates seeking admissions to the listed courses through have to apply for NSI Admission Test 2021 in online mode, and then submit the filled-in application form on the following address:

Candidates also need to pay the application fee of NSI Admission Test 2021 in the form of a Demand Draft along with the application form. The DD should be drawn in favour of “Director, National Sugar Institute” payable at Kanpur. 

The application fee for unreserved categories is Rs 1500 and, for SC/ST category, it is Rs 1000. The mode of fee payment is the same for all.

Step 2: Download admit card - Candidates who have submitted the application form for NSI Admission Test 2021 completely will be issued admit cards to appear for the exam. The admit card of NSI Admission Test 2021 will mention details about the exam date, timings, test paper, details of candidates appearing for the test and, test centre details. Candidates have to download it from the official website and, get printouts on A4 sheets to carry on the exam day.

Step 3: Appear for NSI Admission Test - Candidates have to appear for NSI Admission Test 2021 as per the schedule mentioned for their paper. They should carry admit card and a valid photo ID proof on the exam day. Candidates should reach the test centres at least an hour before the exam timings.

Step 4: Declaration of results and admission process - The institute will declare the results of the NSI Admission Test 2021 within a month of conducting the examination. Moreover, a merit list of shortlisted candidates and, a waitlist will be published on the official website. Candidates shortlisted for admissions will be informed separately about the admission schedule.
