Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET) University was founded in 1997 by Vidya Bharati Educational Trust and is located at Gunupur, Odisha. This private University has five schools such as Engineering & Technology, Management Studies, Agriculture, Sciences and Humanities that offer various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes such as BTech, MBA, BSc, BBA and MTech amid others. Admission to each programme offered at GIET University is based on both merit and entrance-based. The University conducts its own entrance exam called Gandhi Institute of Engineering Technology Entrance Exam (GIETEE) for admission to a few of its UG programmes. GIET University has an active training and placement cell which facilitates job opportunities for the students and make them industry-ready with the right blend of academic and personal skills. The cell performs three main tasks, including training, placement & association with the alumni, pre-placement training and and to provide tips for cracking interviews with the help of the eminent faculty members.

Recently, during GIET University placements 2020, more than 100 organisations visited the campus for hiring.

The placement process of GIET University is listed below:

1. Companies who want to visit for campus placements at the University need to communicate to the SPOC of GIETU
2. The training and placement cell will then ask for all the relevant information such as job profile, etc. within 24 hours through mail
3. Then the date of campus visit will be fixed
4. Companies’ entire schedule will be managed by the SPOC allotted to them and the University will provide all the facilities so that they can organise their placements session smoothly
5. Once the recruitment process is over, the company needs to declare the final selection list on spot or through an e-mail
6. After the companies will roll-out their offers, the training and placement department will communicate the acceptance of the offers by the candidates and ensure to make them reach to the company on assigned date for joining 

To encourage meritorious students and assist economically weaker students, GIET University has proposed four scholarships based on merit and several other factors.
