MGMIHS or Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences is deemed university with campuses in Aurangabad and Navi Mumbai. It was established in 1989 by MGM Trust and has a NAAC ‘A’ grade accreditation. MGMIHS has five colleges in its Navi Mumbai campus, which offer courses related to Health Sciences and Allied Sciences. The institute is affiliated to MCI (Medical Council of India, New Delhi) and offers more than 66 courses related to the Medical stream. MGMIHS courses comprise subjects related to Health and Allied Sciences. The course catalogue has more than 66 full-time courses, most of which incorporate mandatory rotatory internships and industrial training sessions. MBBS takes four and a half years to complete (excluding 6 months of clinical training), whereas BSc programmes are concluded within three years. Similarly, MSc takes two and MD/MS takes three years to complete.

MGMIHS admission process is college-specific i.e. each college affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences holds a separate application process. The university initiates the application process for some of the programmes in the first week of June (tentative). But, courses like MBBS, MD and MS follow NEET guidelines and timetable.  

Most of the courses at MGMIHS admit candidates based on merit in qualifying exams, whereas entrance to other programmes (BSc, BPT, MPT, PhD, etc.) are based on MGM CET scores. However, in both cases, the candidate is required to appear for counselling. An overview of the MGMIHS admission process for some of courses is mentioned below:

Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences Scholarships  

Scholarships offered by MGMIHS are majorly merit-based and cover up to Rs 20 lakh of a student’s university expenses. MGMIHS scholarships can be further segregated into two categories viz. financial support from the institution and financial support from other sources. Moreover, the university awards educational loans to those who need it. MGMIHS scholarships are mentioned below: 

MGM Trust Freeship – Awarded to the ward(s) of defence personnel, MGM Trust Freeship is disbursed only after the final verification of a candidate’s scholarship application by the state/board/force nodal officer. The scholarship amount ranges from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.    

Tata Trust Scholarship – These merit-based scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in UG and PG programmes in Nursing on account of perpetual outstanding academic performance. 

Transunion CIBIL Scholarship – An amount of Rs 40,000 and above is paid each year to students who maintain a 65% aggregate in their respective examinations and attend the soft skills programme.  

Framjee Casawjee Trust Scholarship – It is a merit-cum-means scholarship awarded after scrutinising a respective student’s scholarship application form. The disbursed amount starts from Rs 9,000 and goes up to Rs 25,000 and more.
