What's new at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL)? The University witnessed the participation of five recruiters and a total of seven students were placed during RGNUL placements 2021. 

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law is a public law school located in Patiala, Punjab. The school was established by the Punjab Government as a university dedicated to the field of law. The University offers UG, PG and doctorate programmes in the field of Law with over 10 specialisations.

The University is accredited with an “A” grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In 2019, the NIRF has ranked RGNUL at 10th position among law schools in India. It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The University has over 30 core faculties and two guest faculties. Apart from this, the University has a staff of more than 60 staff members. It compromises of six committees for different events such as Moot Court Committee, Cultural Committee, Website Committee, Sports Committee, etc. The infrastructure of the University is facilitated with all basic necessities including hostels, moot courts, labs, health centre, guest house and many more.

Apart from this, the University offers placements and internships to all UG and PG students. RGNUL has an Internship and Placement Committee (IPC) to help students guiding and planning their internships and placements.

RGNUL admission begins in the month of May. Admissions are conducted online through the official website of the university.

  • For UG and LLM admissions, the University accepts CLAT exam. Candidates will be shortlisted based on the performance in CLAT exam.

BA LLB (Hons) is a five year integrated programme offered by the University. It includes assignments, seminars & project work along with the professional training. However, the final selection of students will be based on the marks obtained in CLAT.

At the PG level, the University offers a one-year LLM programme in four different specialisations. The programme consists of two semesters with a total seat intake of 40 students. RGNUL PhD Admission 2021

The University offers a PhD programme in Law. PhD is offered with a minimum course duration of three years and a maximum of six. Candidates who have done a master’s in Law are eligible to apply for the same. However, the final selection of students will be based on the scores obtained in an entrance exam conducted by University. The eligible students have to attend a counselling round to complete the admission process.

RGNUL Application Process 2021

For admission to UG and PG programmes, candidates first need to register for CLAT exam. The application fee for CLAT is Rs 4,000 for General category candidates, and for SC/ ST category candidates, the application fee is Rs 3,500. Follow the below-mentioned steps for the CLAT application process:

  1. Visit the official website of CLAT, www.consortiumofnlus.ac.in
  2. Click on “Click Here” to fill registration form
  3. Register yourself by clicking on register button
  4. Fill the application form by entering required details
  5. Submit the application form along with a passport-size photograph
  6. Pay the CLAT application fee online via debit/ credit cards or net banking

Admission to LLD and PhD is done through the official website of University. Candidates applying for PhD programme need to pay an application fee of Rs 2,000. Below mentioned are the steps for the complete application process:

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL or NLU Patiala) offers five courses but is popularly known for its BA LLB (Hons) and LLM programmes offered in full-time mode. The institute has a sanctioned intake of 180 students for BA LLB (Hons) and 40 students for LLM programme. NLU Patiala admission 2021 to BA LLB (Hons) and LLM is done on the basis of merit as assessed through a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

What is CLAT Counselling?

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam that was conducted on July 23 and the results were released on the official website on July 29. CLAT-qualified candidates must complete the following two-step process to appear for CLAT Counselling, which is presented below:

Step 1: Update NLU preferences

Step 2: Make online payment of Rs 50,000

Registered candidates for CLAT 2021 counselling will be called by the respective NLUs through five provisional merit lists, each released by the Consortium of CLAT. Candidates, who are selected in either of the merit lists will have the following three options, including:

  • Accept the allotted seat
  • Apply for upgrade
  • Exit from CLAT admission process

Note: Candidates, who did not get allotment in the prior list, will have to wait for the next list.
