What's new at PAU? PAU PhD admissions are open. Established in 1962, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is a renowned State University which was inaugurated by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1993, the then Prime Minister of India. It is the largest agricultural university in Punjab which comprises of 32 departments and three schools across four constituent colleges. Altogether, it offers 43 PG, 29 PhD and 11 UG programmes at Ludhiana and outstations. 

PAU has established eight Research Stations, 18 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and 14 Farmers' Advisory Service Centres (FASCs) under its wing. It works in active collaboration with CGIAR institutes (CIMMYT, IRRI, ICRISAT, ICARDA, CIAT), University of Wisconsin, Purdue University, Olds College, University of Western Australia, among others.

PAU Admission Process 2021

Punjab Agricultural University admission can be processed both online as well as offline. The University conducts different entrance examinations for admissions in various courses as presented below:

  • BSc (Hons), BTech and Integrated MSc – CET (Common Entrance Test)
  • BSc (Architecture) - AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test)
  • BSc in Fashion Designing – DAT (Design Aptitude Test) conducted by NID
  • BTech in Agricultural Engineering - JEE Main
  • MTech, MBA, MCA (Regular + Lateral), MJMC and MSc - MET followed by an interview
  • PhD - Written test conducted by PAU followed by an interview (ICAR qualified candidates are directly called for interview round)

Note: PAU offers 5% & 10% relaxation to SC/ST category & Kashmiri Migrants respectively in the qualifying marks. 

Students registering online must follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the university website i.e. www.pau.edu and click on ‘Apply Now’
  • Select the desired course, download the application form and fill required details as instructed
  • Upload the scanned copies of necessary documents like recent photographs, Class 10 / 12 or qualifying exam marksheets, category certificate, signature (blue/black) among others.
  • Pay an amount of Rs 5640 as prospectus + entrance test charges for each test via any online mode

Foreign candidates applying at Punjab Agricultural University are granted admissions in absentia against the additional seats. They are exempted from appearing in any entrance exam since their admission is regulated by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.

  • Dr S.K. Vasal Scholarship - MSc student with the highest OCPA in the discipline of Plant Breeding and Genetics is granted a scholarship amount of Rs 1500 per month
  • Mrs Jaswant Kaur Bindra w/o Dr Onkar Singh Bindra Scholarship - MSc student with highest rank in the admission list in Entomology is granted scholarship amount of Rs 3000 per month plus contingency grant of Rs 5000 per annum

Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana (PAU Ludhiana) is the largest university in the field of Agriculture in Asia. Established in 1962, PAU is the third-oldest agricultural university in India after GB Pant Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar and Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneshwar. PAU Ludhiana offers UG, PG and PhD programmes such as BSc, BSc (Hons), BTech, MTech, MSc, MCA, MBA, Master of Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) and PhD in various specialisations under 32 departments with Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry being the top choice for aspirants. UG Courses

  • PAU Ludhiana conducts Common Entrance Test (CET), followed by counselling to offer admission to BSc (Hons) programmes except for BSc (Architecture/Fashion Design)
  • Candidates must appear for a national-level Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) conducted by IIT Delhi to secure admission to BSc (Architecture) programme
  • For BSc (Fashion Design), candidates must appear for Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by NID
  • Admission to BTech is based on the score in CET, except for BTech (Agricultural Engineering), for which a valid score in JEE Main is mandatory

PG Courses

  • Admission to Integrated MSc is based on the scores obtained in PAU-CET 
  • For admission to MTech, MBA, MCA (regular + lateral entry), MJMC and MSc programmes, PAU conducts Master’s Entrance Test (MET) for each course individually, followed by a Personal Interview (PI) round
  • Candidates with a valid score in CAT need not appear for MET-MBA conducted by PAU Ludhiana, and sit directly for the PI

PhD Courses

  • PhD admission is based on the scores obtained in PAU Written Test and a PI round. Although, ICAR-qualified candidates are directly eligible for PI round
