Admissions to Periyar Maniammai University are open now. Formerly its was known as Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for Women, Periyar Maniammai University abbreviated as PMU is a deemed university headquartered in Vallam, Tamil Nadu. The university offers degree programmes at various undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral levels. These programmes are majorly offered in the field of engineering & technology and architecture.   

Furthermore, the institute also offers degree programmes in computer application, humanities, sciences and business & management studies.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for all courses

The general eligibility criteria for admissions to the undergraduate programmes offered at PMU states that the candidates need to score a minimum of 50% marks in the +2 exams, from a recognized state/central board.

For the post graduate programmes, the candidates need to complete their +2 and graduation from a recognized board/university with a minimum of 50-60% marks in the qualifying examination.

In addition to these, it is mandatory for the candidates to study physics, chemistry and mathematics as compulsory subjects in order to pursue engineering & technology, architecture and science courses. 

NOTE: It is advisable for the candidates to check the eligibility criteria for all the courses before applying for admissions.

Admission Process

The admission to BTech programmes

Criteria I:

50% of the seats will be allotted to candidates through Uni-GUAGE-E scores (Online Entrance Examination Uni-GAUGE-E conducted by M/S ERA Foundation on behalf of Consortium of Deemed to be Universities)

Normalized +2 marks in which, the merit list with the weightage for Uni-GUAGE-E exam scores for 50% and normalized +2 marks for 50%.

Criteria II:

40% of the seats will be allotted to candidates who have not appeared for UniGUAGE- E exam. The admission will be based on the normalized +2 marks in which, a merit list will be prepared considering the following:

• First rank of PMU applicant
• Aggregate mark of all other student which is normalized with reference to that of the first rank student.

The admission to MTech programmes

The admission to MTech (Regular) programmes shall be done on the basis of the following:

100% of the seats shall be based on the normalized marks obtained in the Qualifying examination as per the Rules and Regulations of Statutory Bodies.

The admission to BArch programmes

The following shall be the weightage:

• Qualifying examination
• 50 % of Marks obtained in 10+2 / 10+ 3 Diploma (Mathematics and English)
• 50 % Marks in NATA.

The admission to MArch programmes  

The admission to MArch programmes shall be done on the basis of the following:

• 100% of the seats shall be based on the normalized marks obtained in the Qualifying examination as per the Rules and Regulations of Statutory Bodies.
• The candidate with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in a Bachelor of Architecture degree course or equivalent courses recognized by the Council of Architecture shall be admitted to the Post graduate course in architecture.

NOTE: Admissions to all the other courses will be made on the basis of the candidate’s marks in the +2 exams.

Application Process

The candidates can fill online applications for admissions to their choice of courses offered at PMU. After successful filling of the forms, the candidates will have to make the payment of the prescribed application fee through various payment modes available.

Admission Process for Foreign Nationals

NRI / PIO / Foreign National Candidates

Candidates studying in India or abroad may apply for admissions under NRI /PIO / Children of Indian Workers in Gulf countries / Foreign National Category, adhering to the rules and regulations of the Government of India with the following eligibility criteria.

• Pass in Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: “Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology or equivalent”
• Applicants for Admissions under NRI quota shall not have completed 21 years of age as on the 1st July of the respective academic year.
• NRI financially supporting the candidates must be blood relation such as his/her Father, Mother, Sister, Brother, Uncle, (Father’s brother or Mother’s brother) and Aunty (Mother’s Sister or Father’s Sister) only, residing abroad.
• The candidates should furnish the following documents at the time of Admission

Documents required for foreign national admission

For NRI Category

• Sponsorship Letter.
• Relationship Certificate in Original (blood relation must be Father, Mother, Sister, Brother, Uncle and Aunt only).
• Letters from the employer’s sponsor in original.
• Statement of Bank A/C of sponsor with NRI A/C number.
• NRI Status certificate of financial supporter issued by the embassy of respective country under their seal in original.
• Nativity certificate of the sponsor.
• Mark sheets of the qualifying examination.

For Foreign National / PIO Category
