Commonly known as Punjab Engineering College (PEC) Chandigarh, PEC University of Technology was ranked 78 for Engineering by NIRF 2019. It is a deemed University with academic and administrative processes similar to IITs. The institute offers eight UG programmes and 14 PG programmes in the field of Engineering and Technology. It also offers a PhD programme in various research disciplines of Engineering. PEC Chandigarh has nine academic departments and two centres of excellence.

PEC Chandigarh offers BTech programme in eight different specialisations. Admission to the BTech programme is based on JEE Main rank of the candidates, followed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. Candidates who have passed Class 12 with 75% aggregate or are in the top 20 percentile are eligible to apply for admission to any of the following specialisations:

Note: For sportspersons, sons/ daughters/ spouses of military/ paramilitary personnel and Kashmiri migrants, admissions are conducted by the University itself.

Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh offers a four-year BTech programme at the UG level. Admission to the programme is based on JEE Main rank, followed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Counselling. The institute-specific qualifying cutoff is announced after the declaration of JEE Main result to manage the seat allotment process. The seat allotment process is based on the college cutoff and the candidate's preference for courses and colleges. The JEE Main cutoffs are generally declared in seven rounds of JoSAA Counselling based on opening and closing ranks for each of the programme-specific specialisations. However, amidst the Covid-19 situation, only six rounds of counselling are conducted. The cutoffs are further divided into gender-wise ranks for Other State (OS) and Home State (OS) candidates across multiple categories, such as SC, ST, OBC, EWS, etc.

PEC Chandigarh Cutoff Trend: BTech (Other States Quota)

As mentioned above, JoSAA has released the final closing cutoff rank for all the BTech specialisations offered at PEC Chandigarh. Usually, JoSAA conducts seven rounds of counselling, but in 2020, only six rounds of JoSAA Counselling were conducted. Therefore, in the graphs given below, the Round 6 closing ranks of 2020 are compared with Round 7 closing ranks of 2018 and 2019 for General category (Gender-Neutral) candidates:

A fluctuating cutoff trend has been observed for BTech in Computer Science Engineering and Electrical Engineering. While the cutoffs improved for Computer Science Engineering in 2019 and declined in 2020, the cutoffs for Electrical Engineering declined in 2019 and improved in 2020. On the contrary, remaining BTech specialisations, including Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering have exhibited a gradually declining cutoff trend over the past three years.
