Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS) serves as a public state agricultural university in Allahabad. It was established in the year 2010 as Allahabad Agricultural Institute and it became the first Indian institution to provide a degree in the field of Agricultural Engineering. In 2016, it gained the status of a full-fledged university. SHUATS is established under U.P. Act No. 35 of 2016, as passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature. SHUATS have six faculties, which is comprised of 60 academic departments, 15 constituent schools and four advanced research centres. The University offers UG, PG, certificates and diploma programmes and doctoral programmes in various disciplines.
SHUATS has an accredited ‘A' grade from NAAC and has been classified as an ‘A' by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of India. The institution received UGC approval in 2000, as well as ICAR and ICFRE approval in 2009. Dr Sam Higginbottom, former economics and science teacher and social worker, founded the university with the goal of bridging the gap between contemporary farming technologies and farmers' archaic ways.
Admission to various diploma, UG and PG programmes of Agriculture, BPharm and DPharma shall be granted strictly on the basis of merit obtained from SHUATS Online Entrance Test for Agriculture & Pharmacy (SOETAP) and Merit-Based Online Counselling.
A common online application form shall be applicable for all academic programmes which is available on the University website.
Admission for UG/PG/ Diploma programmes is open. Candidates can visit the official website for information. Commencement of Merit-Based Online Counselling for UG/DIPLOMA programmes will start from August 2.
The university is in the process of establishing a medical college in accordance with Medical Council of India (MCI) guidelines, despite having finished its own hospital, Hayes Memorial Mission Hospital.
A Career Planning and Counseling Center has been established at the university (CPCC). In addition, the centre provides students with entrepreneurship and soft skills training, summer internships, career counselling, and other personality development initiatives. SHUATS Placements 2021There is a Career Planning & Counseling Centre (CPCC) established by the university to help students discovering great employment opportunities for their career growth.
