Sister Nivedita University (SNU) was founded in 2017 at New Town, Kolkata through the enactment of The Sister Nivedita University Act, 2017 (West Bengal XLIX of 2017). It is a private University and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and PhD programmes in a wide array of subjects, under the disciplines like Sciences, Law, Language and Literature, Medicine and Management, to name a few. It is approved by the UGC, the AICTE, the BCI, the PCI and Indian Nursing Council.

UG Courses

• BTech admission is based on a valid score in Sister Nivedita University Entrance Test (SNUET)/ JEE Main/ WBJEE
• For the remaining UG courses, the admission is based on a valid score in SNUET conducted by the University

PG Courses    

• For MBA programme, admission is based on the qualifying aggregate obtained in either GMAT/ CAT/ JEMAT/ MAT/ SNUMAT exams
• Admission to the remaining PG programmes is based on the merit obtained in SNUET, which is conducted by Sister Nivedita University

Diploma courses

• Diploma admissions are based on merit

Sister Nivedita University offers BSc (Hons), BSc, General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM), BA (Hons), BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), BCom LLB (Hons), BPharm, BCA, BArch, BPlan, BDes, BFA, BTech, BBA and BCom (Hons) at the UG level. At PG level, it offers MCA, LLB, MFA, MA, MTech, MBA, MCom, MSc and Post Basic BSc Nursing programmes. All these courses are offered under the 12 schools of Sister Nivedita University. Sister Nivedita University has a dedicated Training & Placement Cell (TPC), which is well supported by the Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC). Over the years, several organisations had visited to recruit the students during Sister Nivedita University placement drives which include IBM, Microsoft, CICSO, Cognizant, BSE, Accenture, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant Technology Solution, Thoughtworks, and many more. 

The University two types of scholarships to the students, namely Chancellor Merit Scholarship and Chancellor Talent Scholarship.

Chancellor Merit Scholarship:a) This scholarship waives off 100 percent of the tuition fee for the students who secure more than or equal to 95% aggregate in the qualifying examination for diploma/undergraduate programmes and more than 75% marks in the qualifying examination for postgraduate programmes.b) The students who secure less than 95% aggregate and more than or equal to 90% aggregate in the qualifying examination for diploma/undergraduate programmes and less than 75% and more than 70% in the qualifying examination for postgraduate programmes are eligible to get 50% scholarship on the tuition fee

Chancellor Talent Scholarship:Chancellor Talent Scholarship wiaves off 50 percent of the tuition fee if the student has represented the state or the nation in a National or International meet/ performance in the field of sports, performing arts (e.g. singing, dancing, drama etc.), visual arts (e.g. painting, sculpture etc.). However, student must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to any undergraduate/postgraduate programme.
