Established in the year 2011, Swarnim Gujarat Sports University (SGSU) is a state-owned public university. SGSU aims at promoting sports activities among students by offering them a platform to stand at the state as well as national level. SGSU offers various programmes at UG, PG and Doctoral level. Swarnim Gujarat Sports University admissions are conducted online through its official admission system. Registration for admission to SGSU commences in April and lasts up to May every year. Here are a few important points regarding admission:

Under UG wing, SGSU Gandhinagar offers six different programmes which include BSc, B.P.Ed.S, B.P.Ed, BA, BBA, and Integrated B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed. The duration of these programmes varies from course to course. The course-wise eligibility and selection criteria are given below.

The University offers BSc in Sports Coaching, Bachelor of Physical Education in Science (B.P.Ed.S) and BA in Journalism and Mass Communication. All these programmes have a course duration of three years, each year consisting of two semesters. Admission to these programmes is based on the merit in the Class 12 marks. Candidates must satisfy the respective course's eligibility criteria to qualify for admission:

BBA is a three-year full-time programme which comprises of six semesters. Candidates, for BBA programme, are selected based on the score obtained in Class 12. Candidates must note that they should have passed Class 12 with a sports background or participated in state or national level competition. Eligibility criteria for BBA programme is given below:

Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) is a two-year or four-semester regular programme. However, students shall be permitted to complete the programme requirements within a maximum time span of three years. Admission to this programme is based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination which consists of a written test, proficiency test, physical fitness test, and marks obtained in Class 12. Eligibility criteria for B.P.Ed programme is given below: 

Integrated B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed programme is spread across six semesters, each year comprising of two semesters. Candidates, for this programme, are selected on the basis of marks scored in Class 12. Eligibility for this programme is as per the norms set by NCTE as shown below:

At PG level, SGSU Gandhinagar offers four different programmes which are M.P.Ed, MSc, M.P.Ed.S, and MA. The duration of these programmes varies from course to course. Admission criteria for each of these course is mentioned below:

M.P.Ed is a two-year degree programme, each year consisting of two semesters. Admission to M.P.Ed programme is based on the marks obtained in entrance examination and past academics. Apart from M.P.Ed programme, the University also offers three other programmes which are MSc in Sports Coaching, MA in Sports Journalism and Mass Media Technology, and Master of Physical Education and Sports (M.P.Ed.S). In addition to UG and PG courses, SGSU also offers PG Diploma courses in six different specialisations. The course duration for this programme is one-year, consisting of two semesters in total. SGSU Gandhinagar offers eight different certificate courses. Each of these courses is covered with a three months duration for full-time mode, while for part-time mode it is covered with six months duration. These certificate courses are offered in two batches, the first batch starts in August, while the second batch begins in February. The exams are conducted at the end of each batch. The University offers four different short-duration certificate programmes. The duration of these programmes ranges from three days to five days depending upon course to course. The below table enlists the eligibility criteria for various courses.

The University offers Integrated MPhil and PhD programme with a course duration of seven academic terms or semesters. Admission to this programme is based on the marks scored in the entrance test conducted by the University. The format for the entrance test is similar to that of National Eligibility Test of UGC or CSIR and Gujarat State Level Eligibility Test (SLET). Admission to this programme usually starts in the last week of July every year. Candidates who have qualified UGC NET/ UGC CSIR NET exempted from the entrance test. Final merit list is prepared on the basis of following criteria as given below:

• 40 per cent weightage of marks secured in entrance test
• 40 per cent weightage of marks/ aggregate scored in PG degree of respective subject
• 10 per cent weightage will be given at the performance in GD and PI
• 10 per cent weightage for sports achievement and medalist sports person at National level
